Have you see the OVA or read the manga series of Hellsing? If so how far have you gotten? If not please direct your attention to youtube, and watch OVA 1-4 at least. Warning: If you have watched the anime we require you watch the OVA, or read the manga. The anime is not canon. This is not our opinion. This is the law set down by the creator of Hellsing, Kouta Hirano.
I've read manga 1 -10, just like the Dawn, several pre-Hellsing works by Hirano(I read -of course!- Bram Stokers Dracula, too!XD) and I know the OVAs 1-7. I've seen the anime, too.

Name: Vlad III "Tepes" Draculea, aka: Vlad, the Impaler; Son of the Dragon/of the Devil (the Rumanian words for "dragon" and "devil" are very similar, so "dracul" was often mistakenly translated into "devil"); Count Dracula;
today his common name is the anagram "Alucard", his most used nickname or even title is the "No Life King"

Age: 571 (* 7th of December 1431 in Sighişoara, Transylvania or Nuremberg, Germany; was killed and "reborn" ~15th of December 1476 in Bukarest) but looks like in his late 20's

Gender: male (but because of his ability of shape shifting he's even able to take the appearance of a female)

Physical appearance:

my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Alucard_closeup_2
Alucard is with about 7'' quiet tall, is slender but strong and well trained while his hard lifetime he spented mostly on the battlefield and his skin is even for a vampire extraordinary pale, almost white and spotless. He has got noble, young but distinctive facial features -including a large nose- and dark red, brute eyes and a mysterious, hypnotic but often even scary glance like someone who knows a lot and had seen a lot of tragedie, blood, pain, war and madness, who developed to the incarnation of all that, haveing a sight like an infernal beast of prey.
His hair is dark as night and seems to change its length with the grade of his unleashed power.

That's how he looks like today but it's supposed to be not his real body. In fact it's well known that Draculea was a not too tall, stubbed man, haveing got a beard and was not that handsome Alucard is.
Even if the Nosferatu shifts into the appearance of a medieval knight, he looks more like Aragorn than the true Vlad Draculea...

However, he himself said once -in 1944- that his shape means nothing to him and it really seems as if he could transform himself into everyone he wants to and as if it doesn't him matter.

Another proof for this attitude is "Girlycard", the form he choose when he was on missions with the young Walter in WWII.
Girly is a small, pale, black-haired girl that looks like about 14 years and is surely not taller than 5''.
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Girlycard_by_vladtepez
When "she" had her first entrance "she" told Walter he "must find it entertaining". So shape shifting is obviously nothing but a kind of amusement for Alucard.

Clothing of choice:
While talking about his style, you have to make differences between his three most used forms.
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Alucard_of_four_people_by_meso_moq
~Alucard~:
In his common vampire form, Alucard wears a long red trench coat and heavy leather boots in Victorian coachman style, a black suit, a white chemiese with high collar, a red cravat and sometimes even a large red hat, everything looking like fashion from the late 19th century.
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Alucard_II_by_Krad_Eelav
It's conspicuous that the enslaved vampire seems to wear the same clothes like Abraham van Helsing when he domesticated him.
Alucard's brand label are his orange-red glasses he often uses by day -perhaps because he can't stand sunlight- but even at night and the white gloves with the black Pentagram, the seal van Helsing burned him in. It shows different sentences, like "Gott mit uns", "Hell's gate arrested", "And shines heaven now" and the word "Hellsing" at the top. There are several Christian and heathenish runes, too.
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE 23alusigil

~Vlad(icard)~:
Vlad wears a heavy, metal suit of armor, how it was common for a knight of the 15th century.
A byrnie covers his whole upper part of the body but he even has got a cuirass. The red cape shows that he wasn't just a horseman but a rich, powerful count because red was the color of the nobleness.
Spoiler:

~Girlycard~:
Girlycard wears -just like her older looking, male alterego- a black suit, a white, high collar chemiese and a red tie. Instead of the red hat she has got a black russian furry hat, a nappy, pretty long scarf and even a black trench coat.
(I suppose her clothes are black, not white because Alucard's Rio outfit in the was drawn white, too but in the OVA it was black. And even in the flashback in OVA 4 Girlycard’s clothes are obviously black.)

Weaponry of choice:
(thanks to Regina for permission to use his old descriptions for the the two guns!)

~ .454 Casull ~
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Aluwaffen002_casull

The supposed first Hellsing only produced weapon made by Walter C. Dornez.
The Casull is a classical semiautomatic handgun, based on pre WWII handgun designs by Colt.
Its at least 39 cm long, weighting approiximitely 6 kilogramms unloaded and bears a six plus one shot magazine of the .454 Casull caliber that gave the gun its name.
It appears to have a Browning-Petterson retarded blowback operation, noticeable by the small rod that protrudes out underneath the muzzle, while the regular Colt 1911 doesn´t have one.
The overall look of the Casull is simple and reconizeable, but what draws the attention is the abnormally long barrel, used to control the heavy round dureing recoil.
It has a brass coated barrel and a bolt with five lugs to safely chamber the round without any gas fireing out of the breech.
The gun itself has simple, non-adjustable ironsights and a commander hammer, a double action triggersystem and appears to have no external safety. The traditional grip-safety of the 1911 appears to have influenced the design, but does not serve any function on it whatsoever. In other words, any time he pulls the trigger, regardless of the condition, a shot goes off.
The gun uses modified .454 Casull cartridges as ammo, being upgraded to 13mm hollow point burst rounds that detonate shortly after impact for maximum damage. The bullets themselves are said to be made out of the silver of English churches.

~the "Jackal"~
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Main.php?g2_view=core

The "Jackal" was created by Walter in 1999, only for Alucard to defeat Father Alexander Anderson.
Although the Jackal doesn`t seem to be based on any other firearm other than itself, the frame does bear slight similarity to a Desert Eagle. The slide however has the appearance of a simple block of steel, and that’s the whole beauty of the gun. Its simple, straight lines give it an elegant look, making it the piece of art it truly is.
It is 39cm´s long and is said to be 16 kilogramms heavy... which is unrealisitic, but Walter knows what he`s made, so its probably a super-dense steel which is heavier than normal materials. It also feeds from a six plus one magazine, but uses its own 13mm ammo which doesn`t seem to be interchangeable with the Casull.
As for the gun itself, it has significant differences with its silver sister.. not only is it blued heavyly to look raven black, but it actually has a frame mounted safety installed, as well as adjustable sights and the same commander hammer the Casull uses. Internally, it differs from the Casull as well, using a two-lugged, massive bolt to control the bullets.
The bullets are armor pierceing, explosive penetrators with mercury loads inside them, spraying quicksilver into the enemy after pierceing through body armor and explodeing inside them.. they look like thick hollow point bullets, but with little sharpnels made of a blessed steel, most likely carbon steel. The bullets themselves are made of silver, the caseings are said to be made of gold, but most likely its just a gold finish over massive brass, as gold shell cases would blast apart dureing fireing.
It uses a fictional “Marvells NNA9” powder charge, a more or less subtle reference to Marvel Comics.
On the slide, the true intention of what the gun is to be used for is engraved.. “Jesus Christ is in Heaven Now”, along with a cross, a mockery of the inscriptions on Paladin Anderson`s gloves.

A fact worth mentioning is that Alucard uses the Jackal and the .454 Casull usually together in combat.

~Thompson M1928 ~
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Mp_thompson1921_01d
The so called "Tommy-gun" is Girlycard's supposedly preferred weapon. This version is the earlier 1928 one, the common model used in WWII, with a ventilated barrel and a fifty round drum magazine. Whilest not being very effective against armor, this weapon can blow out an amazing amount of suppressing fire, usually expected from light machine guns.

Caliber: 45 ACP
Overall length: 852 mm
Barrel length: 267 mm
Weight: 4,9 kg unloaded

~Claymore~
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Scottish-claymore-sword-11
Even if he's Romanian, Vlad's original sword looks more like a large Scottish claymore than a normal two-handed sword. Perhaps this giant, heavy weapon was made just for him what gave an understandable explanation for this strange accident.
A sword like this is very hard to use because of its weight and its bulkiness. You have to be very strong and to be used to it in a long, hard training if you want to win a fight with such a claymore and not to be killed because you're to slow with it.
The blade of such a two-handed sword was usually not very sharp. It was dangerous because of it's heaviness and the perfect weapon for berserk attacks.

Race: True Nosferatu

Abilities:

Vlad’s abilities and powers are supposed to be nearly endless. The only thing that narrows them are the seals on his hands. So there are six grades of power he can releash and even the lowest one is much more dangerous than most vampires are in their best mode.

my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE 05--alucardgrin

Level 5: common level; Even in that state sunlight can’t harm him –he can’t stand it, though-, has got superhuman speed and strength, can regenerate every kind of damage and absorbing the souls of his victims, is able to get invisible and to go straight through walls and has got the “third eye” he uses especially for aiming.

my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE 17_alugun

Level 4: His eyes start to glow red. It allows him controlling the weather, telekinesis, hypnosis just like mind control and to communicate with dogs and wolves(taken from "Dracula"). He even can use his coffin for a battle companion in this mode like seen in Hellsing: The Dawn.
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE Girlycard_y_Coffin_by_arthascf

Level 3:
In this state he's even able to teleport, to release his famous "Dog of Baskerville" -a strange, black, dog looking beast without any real shape but an insecure body, sharp fangs and quiet too much eyes- and to use his regeneration powers totally unlimited.
my audition for ~No Life King Nosferatu Alucard~ DONE 27hellhound

Level 2:
From now on he can change his shape into everyone he wants to, notices auras of supernatural creatures just like humans even about very high distances, is able to summon and control insects, spiders and bats that seem to arise from his own body. The number of creatures he's able to call might be identical with the number of souls he absorbed.
Spoiler:

Level 1:
The lowest level Alucard can reach by his own. It makes him able to fly and allows him to use his supernatural strength and speed just like his vampiric powers unlimited.
This is when you really have to call him overmighty.
Spoiler:

Level 0:
It's the total, unlimited, apocalypse like release of all his powers.
When level 0 is releashed Alucard takes self-acting his Vlad-shape and can't change it for the time he stays in this mode. He can release and control everyone he once absorbed and use for a soldier and creating the "river of death". However this is the only mode he can be killed because it's the only when he has got just one single soul - the others are use to fight. So this almost God like state bares his unique true weak point.
However, the Nosferatu can't solve the last seal by his own but need a direct order by his master to do so. After that it has to be induced by himself with the phrase "The bird of the Hermes is my name, I devoured my own wings to be tamed" - a similar sentence to the one written on his coffin: "The bird of the Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame".

This dictum was taken by an old, English, alchemical text from the 15th century, called the "Ripley Scroll". Infact it's said to be one of the most important alchemical documents from this time.
The original one you can reed here:

Spoiler:

It's easy to recognize that it is about the philosopher's stone, how to make it and even talkeing about a legend. I may suppose that it's an allusion to what Alucard is: the incarnation of the philosopher's stone itself. He's the key to immortality, his eyes glow like bloody red stones and even his coat is red - and the legendary stone is supposed to be red, too.(the last evidence I needed for my speculation was that the only thing Alucard left when he disappeared was that stone with his symbol...)
I even think that the relationship of Walter and Alucard is abuted on this text - Alucard is the "the bird of the Hermes", we all know that, and I believe the "serpent" is Walter....but well, that's another story and there's no need to tell it here.

Organization: Hellsing

Personality:
Alucard is the one and only true Nosferatu and well known as the most cruel monster ever existing, Hellsing's faithful bloodhound. Pain, blood and battle are his pleasure and in public this is everything he seems to know about emotions.
His fighting style is cruel and he likes scorning his opponents. He seems just like a wilde, infernal predator mad of hunting and executing what ever he's only allowed to by his master - or more likely isn't explicitly forbidden to- and drinking blood is something he loves with all his heart.
Furthermore, the vampire seems to be terrible arrogant, full of hubris and a heartless tyrant.

But all his behaveing, all his self-assuredness, all his monster like acting is nothing but a fals front he successfully created to hide his true, shattered self.

Vlad grew up in a world of violance and despair what gave him heavy distinction. While his life, revengefulness and imperiousness just like wanting to survive what ever his destiny brings him were his most important reasons - a kind of trying to escape the memorie of his fear while childhood, to forget all his suffering. He was a tyrant made by tyrants - and his whole hard existence made this difficult, insecure persona very fragmented. At the one hand you had a cruel, heartless, pragmatic, lunatic military leader, a grim -but by his people even called fair- ruler.
Well known are his actions and statements like once to a nobleman claiming about the terrible smell from the rotting corpses of Draculeas dead enemies around the castle. Vlad let him stake onto the highest pale and asked him if the smell there above was more blandly.
Another interesting anecdote is that Tepes once commanded to bring several hundreds of beggars and homeless people into a large, wooden bar, claiming there were a kind of dinner for them. After the people had entered the building, he ordered his soldiers to barricade all the possible exits and to burn the bar down. Allegedly he commented this act like this: "We dispose the poorness by disposeing the poor!"
This kind of quiet dark sense of humour he still has got in the present, too.
On the other hand there's a charming, polite lady's man who was able to get every woman he wanted. It's sure that his beloved means anything to him because it seems as if he has never been able to handle the loss of his most precious Ilona, his three brides –Danira, Marhishka and Verona- while the time of van Hellsing and -of course- of his always loved but never owned Mina Harker and an other point worth mentioning is that the so called >Impaler< has to be quiet intelligent and very well educated. It’s sure that he was able to speak and/or understand Rumanian, Turkish, German and Latin as well as he taught himself English in no time (if you trust in Bram Stoker).

Infact, all this dosen't sound very different from the most written before but today, the old count persona is just used to conceal that all his loss, all his pain made the once so proud man not only depressive but tired of life. He's nostalgic, melancholy and preferes staying alone in his almost empty, dark room, as forlorn as he feels deep inside himself. He's broken, his mind dull because of all this tragedies in his past and Alucard developed a very bitter, dismal sense of philosophy, seeming to desire nothing but finally dieing to be redeemed from his suffering and perhaps to be together again with his lost loves.
However, Vlad is quiet intent about his honor, so he just wants to die in a marvelous fight with a truely condign enemie - one just like Alexander Anderson- and only a few people know about his kind of depression.
Indeed there seems to be noone but Walter who the No Life King regulary talks to about this dark thoughts. He really trusts in the old butler because he knows him since so many years, fought so much combats with him together and the count even values the “Death Angel’s” personality and abilities.

Alucard's relationship with his master Integra and his "doughter by bloodline" - Seras- is a bit strange, however. He follows Lady Hellsing's orders only in that way he wants, interpreting them so that he still can do what is useful to him. He is amused when Integra loses it and just can't help himself but laughing maniacal about her temperament that really amuses him. The vampire likes manipulating her and to see how she reacts in quiet extreme situations. Nevertheless there's obviously a kind of deep interest, of fascination perhaps, she makes him feeling and he seems to respect her in any way, because if he won't he surely wouldn't protect her. Probably it isn't real love but certainly a strong attachment between them, more than only master and servant attitude.
In contrast to that Seras seems to be Vlad's chosen "pet" he trains just for fun - and to have a follower because he seems to feel that his time to keep his title as >No Life King< up will come. He likes her -in a bit unobvious way, however- and even if she's very clumsy at the beginning he recognized her vast potential - and makes her useing it.
Alucard honored humans, admires their character, how different they are and how complex. In addition to that he can't stand -perhaps just because he did so, too- people who give up their humanity to become lower creatures and monsters, just because of immortality.
He himself however knows -even if he's almost 600 years old- that there are "no immortal Freaks in this world", neither he nor anyone else is.
There are any clues that Vlad is bi sexual given in the manga and Stokers novel, too because he obviously had a very deep interest in Johnathan Harker and even his relationship to Anderson and Walter can be seen from different points of view.
Furthermore Girlycard, Vlad and the "true" Alucard seems to have got some differences in their characters. Girly is the most amuseing, innocent looking, kittenish and even a bit lubberly part of his personality. In contrast to that Vlad is the exalted, spanking warrior count, the knight and supposed to be the epitome of Alucard's militancy.
So the well known young, black-haired man wearing the red coat is nothing but the total of all this aspects, a very inscrutable, a very conflicting person.

Rank: loyal slave of the Hellsing family and "secret weapon" of the Hellsing Organization

Biography:
(I took the historical facts from an internet page -sadly I lost the link- but edited them by myself just like the whole Bram Stoker - thing I took from sparknotes.com. What follows after that about Alucard was totally written by me.
WARNING!!! Extremely long, I'm sorry!!! )

Dracula was born in 1431 in the Transylvanian city of Sighisoara. At that time Dracula's father, Vlad II Dracul, was living there in exile. Vlad Dracul was in Transylvania attempting to gather support for his planned effort to seize the Wallachian throne from the Danesti Prince, Alexandru I.

Little is known about the early years of Dracula's life. It is known he had an elder brother, Mircea, and a younger brother named Radu. His early education was left in the hands of his mother, a Transylvanian noblewoman, and her family. His real education began in 1436 after his father succeeded in claiming the Wallachian throne and killing his Danesti rival. His training was typical to that common to the sons of the nobility throughout Europe. Dracula learned all the skills of war and peace that were deemed necessary for a Christian knight.

The political situation in Wallachia remained unstable after Vlad Dracul seized the throne in 1436. The power of the Turks was growing rapidly as one by one the small states of the Balkans surrendered to the Ottoman onslaught. At the same time the power of Hungary was reaching its zenith and would peak during the time of John Hunyadi, the White Knight of Hungary, and his son King Matthius Corvinus. Any prince of Wallachia had to balance his policies precariously between these two powerful neighbors. The prince of Wallachia was officially a vassal of the King of Hungary. In addition, Vlad Dracul was a member of the Order of the Dragon and sworn to fight the infidel. At the same time the power of the Ottomans seemed unstoppable. Even in the time of Vlad's father, Mircea the Old, Wallachia had been forced to pay tribute to the Sultan. Vlad was forced to renew that tribute and from 1436-1442 attempted to walk a middle coarse between his powerful neighbors.

In 1442 Vlad attempted to remain neutral when the Turks invaded Transylvania. The Turks were defeated and the vengeful Hungarians under John Hunyadi forced Dracul and his family to flee Wallachia. Hunyadi placed a Danesti on the Wallachian throne. In 1443 Vlad II regained the Wallachian throne with Turkish support, on the condition that he sign a new treaty with the sultan that included not only the customary annual tribute but the promise to yearly send contingents of Wallachian boys to join the sultans Janissaries. In 1444, to further assure to the sultan of his good faith, Vlad sent his two younger sons to Adrianople as hostages. Dracula remained as a hostage in Adrianople until 1448.
In 1444 the King of Hungary, Ladislas Poshumous, broke the peace and launched the Varna campaign under the command of John Hunyadi in an effort to drive the Turks out of Europe. Hunyadi demanded that Vlad II fulfill his oath as a member of the Order of the Dragon and a vassal of Hungary and join the crusade against the Turk. The Pope absolved Dracul of his Turkish oath, but the wily politician still attempted to steer a middle coarse. Rather than join the Christian forces himself he sent his oldest son, Mircea. Perhaps he hoped the sultan would spare his younger sons if he himself did not join the crusade.

The results of the Varna Crusade are well known. The Christian army was utterly destroyed in the Battle of Varna. John Hunyadi managed to escape the battle under conditions that add little glory to the White Knight's reputation. Many, apparently including Mircea and his father, blamed Hunyadi for the debacle. From this moment forth John Hunyadi was bitterly hostile toward Vlad Dracul and his eldest son. In 1447 Vlad Dracul was assasinated along with his oldest son. Mircea was apparently buried alive by the boyars and merchants of Tirgoviste. Hunyadi placed his own candidate, a member of the Danesti clan, on the throne of Wallachia.

On receiving the news of Vlad Dracul's death the Turks released Dracula and supported him as their own candidate for the Wallachian throne. In 1448 Dracula managed to briefly seize the Wallachian throne with Turkish support. Within two months Hunyadi forced Dracula to surrender the throne and flee to his cousin, the Prince of Moldavia, while Hunyadi once again placed Vladislav II on the Wallachian throne.

Dracula remained in exile in Moldavia for three years, until Prince Bogdan of Moldavia was assasinated in 1451. The resulting turmoil in Muldavia forced Dracula to flee to Transylvania and seek the protection of his family enemy, Hunyadi. The timing was propitious; Hunyadi's puppet on the Wallachian throne, Vladislov II, had instituted a pro-Turkish policy and Hunyadi needed a more reliable man in Wallachia. Consequently, Hunyadi accepted the allegiance of his old enemy's son and put him forward as the Hungarian candidate for the throne of Wallachia. Dracula became Hunyadi's vassal and received his father's old Transylvanian duchies of Faragas and Almas. Dracula remained in Transylvania, under Hunyadi's protection, until 1456 waiting for an opportunity to retake Wallachia from his rival.
In 1453 the Christian world was shocked by the final fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans. The East Roman Empire which had existed since the time of Constantine the Great and which for a thousand years had shielded the rest of Christendom from Islam was no more. Hunyadi immediately began planning another campaign against the Turks. In 1456 Hunyadi invaded Turkish Serbia while Dracula simultaniously invaded Wallachia. In the Battle of Belgrade, Hunyadi routed the Ottoman host of Sultan Mohammed, forcing the Turks to withdraw to Constantinople. Hunyadi planned to push the war into Turkey but disease ravaged his forces in the weeks following the battle, claiming Hunyadi himself on August 11, 1456. Meanwhile, Dracula succeeded in killing Vladislav II and taking the Wallachian throne, but Hunyadi's death made his long term tenure questionable. For a time at least, Dracula was forced to attempt to placate the Turks while he solidified his own position.

Dracula's main reign stretched from 1456 to 1462. His capital was the city of Tirgoviste while his castle was raised some distance away in the mountains near the Arges River. Most of the atrocities associated with Dracula's name took place in these years. It was also during this time that he launched his own campaign against the Turks. His campaign was relatively successful at first. His skill as a warrior and his well-known cruelty made him a much feared enemy. However, he received little support from his titular overlord, Matthius Corvinus, King of Hungary and Wallachia's resources were too limited to achieve any lasting success against the conqueror of Constantinople.
The Turks finally suceeded in forcing Dracula to flee to Transylvania in 1462. Reportedly, his first wife committed suicide by leaping from the towers of Dracula's castle into the waters of the Arges River rather than surrender to the Turks. Dracula escaped across the mountains into Transylvania and appealed to Matthius Corvinus for aid. Instead, the King had Dracula arrested and imprisoned in a royal tower near Buda. Dracula remained a prisoner for twelve years.
Apparently his imprisonment was none too onerous. He was able to gradually win his way back into the graces of Hungary's monarch; so much so that he was able to meet and marry a member of the royal family (some of the sources claim Dracula's second wife was actually the sister of Matthius Corvinus, Ilona). The openly pro-Turkish policy of Dracula's brother Radu who was prince of Wallachia during most of Dracula's captivity probably was a factor in Dracula's rehabilitation. During his captivity Dracula also renounced the Orthodox faith and adopted Catholicism. It is interesting to note that the Russian narrative, normally very favorable to Dracula, indicates that even in captivity he could not give up his favorite past-time; he often captured birds and mice which he proceeded to torture and mutilate – some were beheaded or tarred-and-feathered and released, most were impaled on tiny spears.
The exact length of Dracula's period of captivity is open to some debate. The Russian pamphlets indicate that he was a prisoner from 1462 until 1474. However, during that period Dracula managed to marry a member of the Hungarian royal family and have two sons who were about ten years old when he reconquered Wallachia in 1476. It is unlikely that a prisoner would be allowed to marry into the royal family. Diplomatic correspondence from Buda during the period in question also seems to support the claim that Dracula's actual period of confinement was relatively short.
Apparently, in years between his release in 1474 when he began preparations for the reconquest of Wallachia Dracula resided with his new wife in a house in the Hungarian capital.

More than anything else the historical Dracula is known for his inhuman cruelty. Impalement was Dracula's preferred method of torture and execution. Impalement was and is one of the most gruesome ways of dying imaginable. Dracula usually had a horse attached to each of the victim's legs an a sharpened stake was gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled and care was taken that the stake not be too sharp; else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was inserted into the body through the buttocks and was often forced through the body until it emerged from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced through their mother's chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they hung upside down on the stake.

Spoiler:

Death by impalement was slow and painful. Victims sometimes endured for hours or days. Dracula often had the stakes arranged in various geometric patterns. The most common pattern was a ring of concentric circles in the outskirts of a city that was his target. The height of the spear indicated the rank of the victim. The decaying corpses were often left up for months. It was once reported that an invading Turkish army turned back in fright when it encountered thousands of rotting corpses impaled on the banks of the Danube. In 1461 Mohammed II, the conqueror of Constantinople, a man not noted for his squeamishness, returned to Constantinople after being sickened by the sight of twenty thousand impaled corpses outside of Dracula's capital of Tirgoviste. The warrior sultan turned command of the campaign against Dracula over to subordinates and returned to Constantinople.
Thousands were often impaled at a single time. Ten thousand were impaled in the Transylvanian city of Sibiu (where Dracula had once lived) in 1460. In 1459, on St. Bartholomew's Day, Dracula had thirty thousand of the merchants and boyars of the Transylvanian city of Brasov impaled. One of the most famous woodcuts of the period shows Dracula feasting amongst a forest of stakes and their grisly burdens outside Brasov while a nearby executioner cuts apart other victims.

Impalement was Dracula's favorite but by no means hjis only method of torture. The list of tortures employed by this cruel prince reads like an inventory of Hell's tools: nails in heads, cutting off of limbs, blinding, strangulation, burning, cutting off of noses and ears, mutilation of sexual organs (especially in the case of women), scalping, skinning, exposure to the elements or to wild animals and boiling alive.

No one was immune to Dracula's attentions. His victims included women and children, peasants and great lords, ambassadors from foreign powers and merchants. However, the vast majority of his victims came from the merchants and boyars of Transylvania and his own Wallachia. Many have attempted to justify Dracula's actions on the basis of nascent nationalism and political necessity. Many of the merchants in Transylvania and Wallachia were Saxons who were seen as parasites, preying upon Romanian natives of Wallachia, while the boyars had proven their disloyalty time and time again. Dracula's own father and older brother were murdered by unfaithful boyars. However, many of Dracula's victims were Wallachians and few deny that he derived a perverted pleasure from his actions.

Dracula began his reign of terror almost as soon as he came to power. His first significant act of cruelty may have been motivated by a desire of revenge as well as a need to solidify his power. Early in his main reign he gave a feast for his boyars and their families to celebrate Easter. Dracula was well aware that many of these same nobles were part of the conspiracy that led to his father's assasination and the burying alive of his elder brother, Mircea. Many had also played a role in the overthrow of numerous Wallachian princes. During the feast Dracula asked his noble guests how many princes had ruled during their life times. All of the nobles present had out lived several princes. One answered that at least thirty princes had held the throne during his life. None had seen less than seven reigns. Dracula immediately had all the assembled nobles arrested. The older boyars and their families were impaled on the spot. The younger and healthier nobles and their families were marched north from Tirgoviste to the ruins of a castle in the mountains above the Arges River. Dracula was determined to rebuild this ancient fortress as his own stronghold and refuge. The enslaved boyars and their families were forced to labor for months rebuilding the old castle with materials from another nearby ruin. According to the reports they labored until the clothes fell off their bodies and then were forced to continue working naked. Very few of the old gentry survived the ordeal of building Castle Dracula.

Throughout his reign Dracula systematically eradicated the old boyar class of Wallachia. The old boyars had repeatedly undermined the power of the prince during previous reigns and had been responsible for the violent overthrow of several princes. Apparently Dracula was determined that his own power be on a modern and thoroughly secure footing. In the place of the executed boyars Dracula promoted new men from among the free peasantry and middle class; men who would be loyal only to their prince. Many of Dracula's acts of cruelty can be interpreted as efforts to strengthen and modernize the central government at the expense of the feudal powers of nobility and great towns.

Dracula was also constantly on guard against the adherents of the Danesti clan. Some of his raids into Transylvania may have been efforts to capture would-be princes of the Danesti. Several members of the Danesti clan died at Dracula's hands. Vladislav II was murdered soon after Dracula came to power in 1456. Another Danesti prince was captured during one of Dracula's forays into Transylvania. Thousands of citizens of the town that had sheltered his rival were impaled by Dracula. The captured Danesti prince was forced to read his own funeral oration while kneeling before an open grave before his execution.

Dracula's atrocities against the people of Wallachia were usually attempts to enforce his own moral code upon his county. He appears to have been particularly concerned with female chastity. Maidens who lost their virginity, adulterous wives and unchaste widows were all targets of Dracula's cruelty. (supposely that's why Hirano decided to say only virgins can become vampires) Such women often had their sexual organs cut out or their breasts cut off. They were also often impaled through the vagina on red-hot stakes that were forced through the body until they emerged from the mouth. One report tells of the execution of an unfaithful wife. Dracula had the woman's breasts cut off, then she was skinned and impaled in a square in Tirgoviste with her skin lying on a nearby table. Dracula also insisted that his people be honest and hard working. Merchants who cheated their customers were likely to find themselves mounted on a stake beside common thieves.

(for everyone who's interested in, I took some anecdotes from www.donlinke.com .
If they're true is not known but it's supposed that Vlad himself perhaps invented them and let them publish because cruel stories like this make it easier for a monarch between two aggressive countries to stay in his authority.

Spoiler:
)

But there's no era that never ends, so did Dracula's one.

In 1476 he was again ready to make another bid for power. Dracula and Prince Stephen Bathory (that’s the first known connection between Dracula and Elizabeth Bathory, who was claimed to be a vampire, too- even if that happened about 200 years later) of Transylvania invaded Wallachia with a mixed force of Transylvanians, a few dissatisfied Wallachian boyars and a contingent of Moldavians sent by Dracula's cousin, Prince Stephen the Great of Moldavia. Dracula's brother had died a couple of years earlier and had been replaced on the Wallachian throne by a Turkish candidate called Basarab. At the approach of Dracula's army Basarab and his coherents fled, some to the protection of the Turks, others to the shelter of the mountains. After placing Dracula on the throne Stephen Bathory and the bulk of Dracula's forces returned to Transylvania, leaving Dracula's tactical position very weak. Dracula had little time to gather support before a large Turkish army entered Wallachia determined to return Basarab to the throne. Dracula's cruelties over the years had alienated the boyars who felt they had a better chance of surviving under Prince Basarab. Apparently, even the peasants, tired of the depredations of the Impaler, abandoned him to his fate. Dracula was forced to march to meet the Turks with the small forces at his diposal, somewhat less than four thousand men.

Dracula was killed in battle against the Turks near the small town of Bucharest in December of 1476. Some reports indicated that he was assasinated by disloyal Wallachian boyars just as he was about to sweep the Turks from the field. Other accounts have Dracula falling in defeat, surrounded by the bodies of his loyal Moldavian bodyguard (the troops loaned by Prince Stephen of Moldavia remained with Dracula after Stephen Bathory returned to Transylvania). Still other reports claim that Dracula, at the moment of victory, was accidentally struck down by one of his own men.

That's what you can read in every historical bio of Vlad "Tepes" and supposely most of that is true but the last point about Dracula's dizzying lot of causes of death isn't telling the whole story...
Vlad was seriously wounded in this battle - but he didn't die. Instead of that he drunk the blood, surrounding him, laying on the dusty, unholy ground. By that way Vlad "Tepes" Draculea was reborn as Nosferatu Count Dracula - and the trace of his history lost in the dark of myths, legends and bloody, nameless cruelties.

Supposably "the count" spend his time at his castle, exploreing his new powers and developing them. He surely avenge himself for everything that happened to him with the patience and the terrible unscrupulousness of a wild beast.
He got three beautiful brides while this time (Marishka, Danira and Verona).

The first light illuminates his mysterious existence again in the 80's of the 19th century.
The young English lawyer Johnathan Harker was told by his boss to visit a man called count Dracula in Transylvania. The count wanted to buy a manor in London.

As Harker wends his way through the picturesque countryside, the local peasants warned him about his destination, giving him crucifixes and other charms against evil and uttering strange words that Harker later translates into “vampire.”
Frightened but no less determined, Harker met the count’s carriage as planned. Upon arriving at the crumbling old castle, Harker thought that the elderly Dracula is a well educated and hospitable gentleman. After only a few days, however, Harker realized that he is effectively a prisoner in the castle.

The more Harker investigated the nature of his confinement, the more uneasy he became. He realized that the count possesses supernatural powers and diabolical ambitions. One evening, Harker was nearly attacked by three beautiful and seductive female vampires, but the count staved them off, telling the vampires that Harker belongs to him. Fearing for his life, Harker attempted to escape from the castle by climbing down the walls.

Meanwhile, in England, Harker’s fiancée, Mina Murray, corresponded with her friend Lucy Westenra. Lucy had received marriage proposals from three men—Dr. John Seward, Arthur Holmwood, and an American named Quincey Morris. Though saddened by the fact that she must reject two of these suitors, Lucy accepted Holmwood’s proposal.
Mina visited Lucy at the seaside town of Whitby. A Russian ship, the Demeter, wrecked on the shore near the town with all its crew missing and its captain dead. The only sign of life aboard was a large dog that bounds ashore and disappears into the countryside; the only cargo was a set of fifty boxes of earth shipped from Castle Dracula. Not long after, Lucy suddenly begun sleepwalking. One night, Mina found Lucy in the town cemetery and believed she saw a dark form with glowing red eyes bending over Lucy. Lucy became pale and ill, and she beared two tiny red marks at her throat, for which -neither Dr. Seward nor Mina can account. Unable to arrive at a satisfactory diagnosis, Dr. Seward sended for his old mentor, Professor Van Helsing.

Suffering from brain fever, Harker reappeared in the city of Buda-Pest. Mina went to join him. Van Helsing arriveed in Whitby, and, after his initial examination of Lucy, ordered that her chambers be covered with garlic—a traditional charm against vampires. For a time, this effort seemed to stave off Lucy’s illness. She begun to recover, but her mother, unaware of the garlic’s power, unwittingly removed the odiferous plants from the room, leaving Lucy vulnerable to further attack.

Seward and Van Helsing spent several days trying to revive Lucy, performing four blood transfusions. Their efforts ultimately came to nothing. One night, the men momentarily let down their guard, and a wolf broke into the Westenra house. The shock gaves Lucy’s mother a fatal heart attack, and the wolf attacks Lucy, killing her.
After Lucy’s death, Van Helsing leaded Holmwood, Seward, and Quincey Morris to her tomb. Van Helsing convinced the other men that Lucy belonged to the “Un-Dead”—in other words, she had been transformed into a vampire. The men remained unconvinced until they saw Lucy preying on a defenseless child, which convinced them that she must be destroyed. They agreed to follow the ritual of vampire slaying to ensure that Lucy’s soul would return to eternal rest. While the undead Lucy sleeped, Holmwood plunges a stake through her heart. The men then cut off her head and stuffed her mouth with garlic. After this deed was done, they pledged to destroy Dracula himself.

Now married, Mina and Jonathan returned to England and joined forces with the others. Mina helped Van Helsing collecting the various diary and journal entries that Harker, Seward, and the others had written, attempting to piece together a narrative that would lead them to the count. Learning all they could of Dracula’s affairs, Van Helsing and his band tracked down the boxes of earth that the count used as a sanctuary during the night from Dracula’s castle. Their efforts seemed to be going well, but then one of Dr. Seward’s mental patients, Renfield, let Dracula into the asylum where the others were staying, allowing the count to prey upon Mina. He took revenge by visiting—and biting— Mina at least three times. Dracula also feed Mina his blood, creating a spiritual bond between them to control her. The only way to forestall this was to kill Dracula first. Mina slowly succumbed to the blood of the vampire that flows through her veins, switching back and forth from a state of consciousness to a state of semi-trance during which she was telepathically connected with Dracula. It was this connection that they started to use to deduce Dracula's movements. It was only possible to detect Dracula's surroundings when Mina was put under hypnosis by Van Helsing. This ability gradually got weaker as the group made their way to Dracula's castle.

As Mina begun the slow change into a vampire, the men sterilized the boxes of earth, forcing Dracula to flee to the safety of his native Transylvania. The men pursued the count, dividing their forces and tracking him across land and sea. Van Helsing took Mina with him, and they cleansed Castle Dracula by killing the three female vampires and sealing the entrances with sacred objects. The others caught up with the count just as he was about to reach his castle, and they used knives to destroy him, cut through his throat and put a blade into his heart.
Quincey Morris died while this battle and Mina -supposed to be "free" again- never found a way back to a normal live. Infact her marriage to Johnathan became a terrible disaster because he couldn't bear that she never got older and more over she still was deeply in a secret love to the supposed dead Dracula.

But the count only disappeared, he didn't die(that’s even why Mina never became a normal human again, whatever Ab tried to do with her). So van Helsing continued his hunt finally defeating him - and enslaved the most powerful vampire ever known. He burned him the famous seals in - probably useing both, black and white magic- and made him to the secret weapon of his new founded H.E.L.L.S.I.N.G ("Her loyal English Legion of Legitimate Supernatural and Immortal Night Guards") Organization.
But even if the count was now a broken man, Abraham decided that he was still to dangerous to use him just like any other weapon and so he locked him into the deepest dungeon of his manor where Dracula stayed for some decades - until another, young man opened his prison.
This man was Arthur Hellsing, the leader of Hellsing in those days. He was the one, too, who gave the vampire his new name: Alucard.
The reason for him to set the Nosferatu free was the riseing WWII and the need of a second new "special agent" against the Nazis.

It must been about 1940 when now Alucard and the young Butler of the Hellsing family -Walter C. Dolneaz- had their first meeting(in that time the Nosferatu supposely met the acquaintance of the later Queen of England). The undead was impressed of the well educated, quiet intelligent but even so incredible skilled in fighting boy. So they easily became friends and had to handle several missions together - just like the elimination of the "Millenium projekt" what terribly failed.
Spoiler:
Walter was seriously hurt by the Major's guard, the werewolf Hans Günsche which Alucard -who had chosen the Girlycard-shape in this time- didn't want to fight with for any reason. He preferred leaveing it to the boy and looking for something else, supposely his beloved Mina Harker's remains because he probably could feel her aura.
But this search didn't have any success.
Instead of this his cruel decission to leave Walter alone what was almost the decision to let him die destroyed their friendship and was the first step to an hot rivalry - even if the vampire returned soon enough to take the powerless boy away and to hospital.
The young butler -who once probably felt a bit more for the supposed female vampire than only friendship- became full of bitterness, of hate and wrath, getting the more uncontrollable because of his emotions the more his skills grew.

That's -and even recognizing Alucard's full potential- why Arthur decided to lock Alucard up once more. He was too dangerous, too erratic and the butler in his presence much too aggressive and so the vampire disappeared for another 30 years in the deep darkness of Hellsing mansion's dungeons - until 1989 when Arthur's daughter Integra opened the room that was supposed to be Alucard's final tomb because this was her last hope to save her from her uncle Richard who wanted to kill the girl in order to make he himself to the leader of the Hellsing Organization.
But when he shot Integra's shoulder and blood came to the supposed corpse there the No Life King awoke - and saved his young Master. He killed in his bloodlust Richard's two guards but the girl herself shot her shocked uncle.

Today, he's still the Hellsing family’s loyal servant, protecting Integra and while her teenaged years he even helped the elderly Walter with whom he seems to be friends again with the young Organization leader's education because even he once had -of course- the education of a noble man and his high education and intelligence were reasons why he likes the old butler now still more than once. He developed to the same type of man Alucard is: a in public polite and self-possessed man but in fight a cruel killer...or is their relationship still another one?
Perhaps you can sum it all up in one quotation taken from E.A. Poe's "the Cask of Amontillado": "of course I was laughing because I was thinking of his death!"

How ever there are still a last few couples of facts worth mentioning: 1999 was surely one of the most interesting years to Alucard since quiet a long time. While an vampire incident in the village Cheaddar he transformed the young police girl Seras Victoria and met the one man he was looking for for so long: Father Alexander Anderson, the rival he always wanted.

RP sample:

Normalpost:
Grinning he stand there in the dark of the night. Only the moon gave its spooky white light to the old wood surrounding the village of Cheaddar.
The orange red glasses covers his predator like red eyes while the unnatural pale man with the night like black hair was looking up to the sky, showing his sharp fangs while he said: "What a beautiful night. It’s nights like this that makes them blood-crazed.”
The smell of death and desperation covered the much too quiet countryside like an invisible but frightening miasma that would cut up the breath in scar of every human being. However Alucard wasn’t a human. He was a monster, no, not A monster but the most dangerous, immortal beast ever seen.
And to someone like him, this quiet special exhalation, seemed just like the sweetest aroma you can imagine. It promised the wonderful feeling, the ecstasy of fight, of screams, the bitter-sweet taste of pure, warm blood.
A young woman’s scream interrupted his thoughts. The vampire smirked, turning to the direction this sound came from. “There, there. A survivor? Seems as if the damn freak who’s responsible for all this shit here follows her…”Grinning content because of the surely soon following confrontation he took his Casull, loading the magazine. The hunt was certainly the Nosferatu’s most pleasant amusement.
“Damn useless freak! He isn’t even able to make his job proper but let an only little girl just flee… I wonder how long she still can resist him and his ghouls…” he said with a slight but diabolic laugh.
Slowly Alucard walked smirking straight in that direction the sound had come from.
“Yes, it’s quiet a wonderful night tonight!”

Battlepost Alucard:
With a maniacal grin Alucard aimed at Andersons head, still blooding from the terrible wounds the silver bayonets caused him while he stood up again and started regenerating.
“Not bad, Judas Priest! Not bad!”
He pushed the trigger of the Casull, fireing without any stop, running straight to the priest.
“THAT’S exactly what nobody but you, but Alexander Anderson can do!! Common, little priest! No! My most beloved enemy! Let’s dance the eternal dance of the endless longing, the endless desire, the absolute incomparable bloodlust, the passion of the true fight human vs monster! ”
The seals on his hands started glowing red as his eyes did. Dark shadows covered the walls and ground and out of the vampire’s body the bizarre Dog of Baskerville appeared, bareing his teeth and crowling threatening.
“Common, Father Anderson!! Show me what else a MAN can do!!” he claimed infernal grinning.
"Can he even defeat the beast?!"

Battlepost Girlycard:
(when I play Girlycard I use usually the pronoun “she” to make it obvious which form Alucard has taken at the moment)
“You think you’re quiet a strong vampire, don’t you?!” the vampire asked smirkeing dangerously, looking up to the much taller man standing in front of her and eyeballing her depreciatory. Not so depreciatory like she spoke, however.
“But what are you able to? Drinking blood and never getting older, so what?! Can you regenerate? Or call your animal servants? Can you transform yourself or control the people around you?!”She answered her question by herself, laughing diabolic and let herself falling back – getting picked up by her suddenly appearing quiet strange coffin with arms and legs that she used for a bench while trye to load her gun.
“No, you can’t! And you can’t flee anymore either…”But only one moment later her self-content was over.
“…uhm…well…damn it!! Where’s this damn little deathangel when I need him?!”Upset mumbleing she stood up again, obviously not getting how loading the Thompson MP was to handle.
“ok…well…uhmm…”Alucard seemed quiet unpleasant. Modern technologies surely weren’t anything she was good at. “okay….I’ve got a plan! Coffin, kill him! I’ll…be looking for this damn butler…!”

Holy shit nice!

Though I hate this fact: every single Alucard application I have come across on forget a little fact in the bio.... a priest raped him when he was little. It's shown suggestions in the manga to that fact; where Anderson is Ander-Plant and has Alucard nearly dead.

Anyhow, just thought everyone should know that. **chuckles as people start to flip though their copies of the manga*

Anyhow, good show.
