Death: During Hellsing's war on the Knights of the Damned, Jean and the Wild Geese attacked William O'Conner, general and acting leader of the Knights. After the majority of his group was killed, Jean saw no other option, being heavily injured and out of weapons, than to blow himself up in front of O'Conner to try and weaken him at least some. He died smiling and thinking of his daughter.Have you see the OVA or read the manga series of Hellsing? If so how far have you gotten? Name: Jean Dupont
Age: 57
Gender: Manliest man to ever walk the face of the Earth.
Physical appearance: Jean has dark almost grayish colored hair in a short, messy and unkempt style. His eyes are a light green color, bordering on yellow-green. He is a tall, well built man, no doubt from his numerous years of fighting as a soldier for the Wild Geese. His skin is of average complexion for a Caucasian man, with no visible imperfections on his face or arms (though a few scars from bullets underneath his clothes). He has a very rugged look to his face; a dark moustache on his upper lip and stubble on his chin and jaw. It has a very sturdy look to it, sporting a slightly large nose and mouth.
Clothing of choice: Jean's normal attire is similar to the rest of the Wild Geese. He wears a long sleeved light gray shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Over this, he has a brown-green flak jacket with 3 compartments; 1 over his right breast and 2 on his abdomen, the later being larger than the former. On his hands, Jean has a pair of sturdy brown gloves to assist his grip and protect him. He wears khaki colored pants with a thin brown belt at the waist. On it, he carries 2 large satchels on either side of his hips for ammunition, rations, or what have you. On his feet are large brown leather combat boots, suiting for a mercenary. He also wears a pair of silver circular rimmed glasses. Around his forehead is a dark green headband for soaking up sweet and occasionally blood. Like any soldier, Jean has silver dog tags around his neck stating his personal information.
When not in uniform, Jean prefers long sleeved clothing on the upper part of his body and jeans or khaki dress pants, depending on his mood. He is partial to rolling up the sleeves (why he doesn't just wear short sleeves is a mystery to everyone). He always wears his dog tags, even when not in uniform. He sees them as a remembrance to Pip's father, his long time friend.
Weaponry of choice: Jean's weapon of choice is an M-80, complete with a stylish wooden stock, bandages wrapped around the end. He keeps 5 more magazines worth of ammo for it in his hip bags. In his left bag, he also keeps a small emergency water bottle to fend off dehydration during long battles. In his bottom pockets on his jacket, he stores 2 grenades (1 in each pocket). After encountering the supernatural for the first time, he's also taken to having an emergency stash of 10 silver tipped bullets in a Ziploc bag in them as well. He keeps matches and scrap paper in his breast pocket incase he needs to start a fire for survival (or just to give his captain a light). Jean has a large combat knife strapped to his right shin in case of emergency close quarters fighting.
Race: Human
Abilities: Jean possesses the abilities of a very fit human. He has quick reflexes as well as a high threshold for pain. His eye sight isn't the best a soldier of fortune would normally have, but he more than makes up with it with his extensive combat training. His aim is on par with the best of soldiers, hitting targets quite accurately despite this, though having a bit of trouble if things get too far away (or the weather has too much precipitation). Jean is also a skilled leader, having the respect of nearly all the Geese's members for being such a long time warrior. He is quite patient, being able to camp and wait in one position for quite some time in order to ambush a target. Although nowhere near the level of any of the monstrous entities of the Hellsing series, Jean has a fair amount of strength in his own right, being able to bear a good deal of weight, upwards of 250 lbs at a time, though he's starting to feel his age a bit.
As a French man, Jean is fluent in French. He also knows English quite well, as well as some Spanish and Portuguese (not enough to be called fluent, but enough to get by if he were ever in a country that had a large population of Latin language speakers).
Organization: Wild Geese
Personality: Jean is a respectful man, being polite with his subordinates and following most any order from his captain that he possibly can. He is also very protective of those around him, trying to keep everyone safe. Jean's biggest fear is losing people, not the best quality to have for someone whose livelihood is consisted of people being killed. He enjoys being around people and having a good time, but avoids drinking due to a past of substance abuse. All in all, Jean is a good natured person and loyal companion to his friends. He would rather die himself than have to see one of his comrades be killed instead.
Rank: 1st Lieutenant
Biography: Jean grew up in a single parent home, his mother dying during child birth. His father did the best he could to provide for his son, but had to turn to gambling and other shady activity to support the two of them. Eventually, his debts were too great, and the people he'd taken loans from weren't too happy about not getting their money. On his way home from high school one afternoon, Jean found a few mob members desecrating his father's body. One of them turned to him and told him that now that his father was dead, he'd have to pay the debts he owed them. With a laugh, the men left Jean to weep over his father's corpse.
A few weeks after this, Jean met someone who would become a life-long friend to him; Pip's father. The two struck up a bond that made them inseparable. It wasn't long until his friend heard about what happened to Jean. Not even thinking twice, Pip's father gifted Jean as much money as he needed to pay back the gangsters. Amazed that a boy the same age as him could have that much money on hand, he questioned his friend where he could have gotten it from. Pip's father told him that he was from a long line of mercenaries, and that money wasn't of much concern to his family. Overjoyed at finally being able to put his past behind him, Jean paid off his father's debts. When his friend inherited the title of Leader of the Wild Geese, Jean joined up as a way to repay his friend for all he'd done for him.
Sometime after this, Jean met his soon-to-be wife while in Norway. The two fell in love at first sight and were married a year later. Although incredibly disapproving of her husband's line of work, she accepted him for what he was, and the two eventually had a child together, a daughter named Michelle. This was the beginning of a long and happy life together, or so they thought.
Having been a member of the Geese for quite some time, Jean has fought in many battles over his life, though none worse than his crippling depression. After seeing Pip's father killed in Colombia, Jean turned to alcohol to try and suppress the memory of his beloved captain and friend. His heavy drinking soon turned to alcoholism, leading to dysfunction with his family. One night he came home drunk and beat his wife in a rage. The next day, she left him with their daughter Michelle, only to die in a car accident while driving away. This led to even worse depression and an attempt at suicide, only stopped by not having the strength to pull the trigger on himself.
After Pip came along to reform the Geese as its leader, he gave Jean a hard talk about life and letting things go. The younger man's words had a great impact on him, and he's been slowly recovering from his crippling disorders. He is well respected among the Geese for being such an old member, and as such, is often looked to for advice by the younger recruits. One of his best friends in the organization is Gral. After joining with the Geese, Jean became quick friends with Gral, despite their numerous differences. They've both grown to support each other over time.
RP sample:Post 1: MANY YEARS AGO, IN A COUNTRY IN SOUTHERN EUROPE (Jean going to see Pip's father).
It was a hot day in France, much too hot for Jean's tastes. He preferred the weather be a bit cooler. Not too much, just enough to keep him from melting to a puddle. Rolling his sleeves to his elbows, Jean set out walking down the street to the house of his dear friend, Mr. Bernadotte. Having been companions for so long as well as soldiers fighting together, the two were closer than brothers and enjoyed spending afternoons together when not in combat.
Knocking on the door of a rather large and expensive looking house, Jean was greeted by his long time comrade.
"You crazy bastard, what ze hell are you doing on my door step? Your wife kick you out yet?" The two men laughed and affectionately gripped each others' hand.
"Not yet, her and my baby still put up with me. What about you? How's life treating you lately?"The duo left the house behind as they walked down the street to the park, their favorite meeting spot. The rest of the day was spent reliving old memories and catching up on current events. A fine afternoon for old friends.
Post 2:In the midst of war.
Bullets flew over head towards the Wild Geese forces. Jean ducked behind a tree to avoid the machine gun fire pelting his comrades. He glanced to his side, seeing his captain whisper into a headset to send orders to his men. Jean heard the transmission in his set, giving a roger in response. He nodded at his captain from across the way. The plan was for the two of them and the other Geese near by the act as a distraction well another group came from behind to ambush the Colombian forces.
Glancing from his hiding spot, Jean fired a volley of lead towards the opposing force. He didn't expect to hit anyone, just push them back a bit. He saw others do this as he reloaded, and also watched as two of his comrades fell to the enemy gunmen. Holding back his anger and the urge to jump out and shoot like a maniac, Jean kept to his strategy of firing and hiding to reload. They would be avenged soon enough.
The enemy force was advancing on their position fast. The blanket of bullets the Geese kept attacking with seemed to be having little affected. As they fell back, Jean pulled a grenade from his pouch, pulled the ring, and flung it back towards the enemy. As it exploded, he and the other Geese took the cover of the dust cloud it produced to retreat back and fire at the enemy.
After getting back a safe distance, the two friends came together to plan.
"Nice job out zhere with ze grenade, pal. It won't be much longer until ze rest of our forces can ambush ze fuckers." The Geese's captain spat in the dirt, getting the taste of dust out of his mouth. He snuck a look past the rock the pair was hiding behind, just in time for a bullet to fly through his head.
Post 3:The death of a friend.
"Captain! No, get up! Get up and fight! Don't die!" Jean clutched the lifeless body of his best friend in his arms, desperately trying to bring him back from a fatal wound. It couldn't end like this, could it? His closest companion dying on him in the middle of battle like this, it can't be possible. It must be a dream, a horrible nightmare from all the fighting over the years. That must be it.
Jean closed his eyes for a full 10 seconds, then opened them again to see his captain's limp body in front of him. This wasn't a dream, it was real. Jean grabbed the headset off his captain's body and held the microphone up to his lips.
"Second Squad, attack now! They're completely off guard in the rear! Hearing the other man's voice giving them orders brought up several questions from the other Geese. All Jean could say through the tears was
"He's dead, keep fighting."Jean watched as a wave of bullets cut through the enemy army in back. The once organized forces turned their back on their former targets to try and figure out what had just shot at them, only to find another wave of lead hit their backs. All he could do now was kill the bastards that had taken his friend from him. After a long battle, the Wild Geese emerged victorious, but no one celebrated after this win.
Quick notes: Gral gave me permission to use him in this bio. I'm not 100% certain on the gun, it's just what Gral and I came up with by looking. If anyone has a better idea of what it could be, please tell me.
For anyone wondering, no, this is not an official name for him, just something I came up with that sounded cool. Also, sorry for the small picture, I had to make one out of a group shot since no one had anything else when I Google'd the OVA's with him.
Oh, and have a little patience with me, it'll be my first time using guns. I'm going to make some mistakes.
