Alice Branwen Empty
PostSubject: Alice Branwen   Alice Branwen EmptySun Jul 14, 2013 4:17 pm

Have you see the OVA or read the manga series of Hellsing? If so how far have you gotten? If not please direct your attention to YouTube, and watch OVA 1-4 at least. Warning: If you have watched the anime we require you watch the OVA, or read the manga. The anime is not canon. This is not our opinion. This is the law set down by the creator of Hellsing, Kouta Hirano.

I’ve seen the OVA, and read a couple of the mangas. Though the anime is not canon, I have also seen all of that.

Name: Alice Branwen

Name Meaning/s: Her first name, Alice, is the equivalent to “noble kind”. Her last name, Branwen, is commonly known as “beautiful raven”.

Age: 20

Gender
: Female

Physical appearance: Being of relatively small stature, Alice has a surprisingly slender and short build (her legs creating most of her height). She stands at 5”4, weighing 110 pounds. Her physical build is firm, not overly muscular but not fat, instead built for a flexible range in movement. What she lacks in size she makes up in speed, strength, wit, and how she “holds” herself. Other than a slight slouch to her shoulders when she sits, this female maintains a physical stance of her own“self-control” at any and all occasions. Her hands are a bit larger than that which would be expected of a woman her height and she has relatively average sized feet. Her nose is the common type called “The Snub” (like Wayne Rooney’s nose), and her ears of equal normalcy. Alice has an oval shaped face, slightly longer than it is wide, much like an inverted egg -- wider at the top than the bottom, the jaw line being slightly rounded. Her skin is fairly light in color, though has a strange gray sheen to it when hit by excessively bright light. She also has a scar that stretches from the top of her neck, all the way down her spin. It is fairly thick (about an inch and a half wide) and is beneath the skin. If you look closely enough, however, you will be able to make it out in a correct environment. Aside from those basics, on her right shoulder she has a black tattoo representing a picture of a pentacle surrounded by a single thick circle.

Alice would not be placed beneath the category of completely unattractive, nor totally attractive, ether. She is a perfect example of one who stands directly on the line between those two most recognized categories, sporting both features that are decently eye-catching, yet also pertaining to those which are in no way or form special or stupendous. All in all, she’s very average. From afar, it is the eyes of many are commonly drawn to her apparent formation due to her auburn hair. She keeps it cut in a choppy manner, no pieces extending further then the middle of her neck. It is wild, naturally messy, yet pertaining to a spellbinding case of intrigue. Other than that, it holds to one inch long streak of silver.

But though it may first be her bright locks which catch the attention of another, it is her eyes that keep them there. They would be Alice’s most notable feature, as her pupils represent a stunning electric green that is proven incredibly rare to have by birth, opposed to genetic alteration or contact lenses. Her eyes are large (not in the “guppy” fashion, mind you) and vastly intelligent, piercing and calculating, they always lock onto a target with the fiercest of mental fires. Alice’s intense stare never wavers and never falters, as she will glare at her enemy with a gaze of pure confidence and determination no matter the situation. She may have a youthful appearance, but her eyes are much older in their depth.

Clothing of choice: Alice is usually seen sporting gender-neutral attire. For her work she prefers to have as little loose ends as possible (for the obvious reason to have her clothing not as easily grabbed by an opponent while in battle). Though she does not always wear the same thing, there are general basics as to what she chooses to wear. Normally, she will sport fitted black pants and a white V-neck T shirt of similar build. Her gloves are black, cuffed, and the tip of both the middle finger and thumb of each hand are entwined with sulfur, glass powder and an oxidizing agent (much like the tip of a match, when she snaps her finger she creates a flame). The girl also wears a simple black belt, but that’s really nothing special. Along with that, she has a regular pair of aviator goggles, the glass tinted by red and the strap an army green.

Alice’s coat is reinterpretation of traditional military jacket; it is long, from to a few inches below the knee, and double breasted, most often with brass-button details. It is made from high-grade, smooth leather on the inside, but with an outer layer of silicon-titanium cloth. This is in a style most coming to the type of British Duffle coat, sporting a hood and button able neck strap, four front wooden or horn toggle-fastenings with four rope or leather loops to attach them to, two large outside pockets with covering flaps. It’s with three-quarter length. It is basically fire-proof.
She always wears her combat boots. They are fairly old, a bit worn, though made of a durable rubber, leather, and metal. The main base is black, the bottoms having defined ridges sporting a solid white color. The same bold white stretches on thick straps, one going horizontally across the front, two horizontally along the top of the boot, and another pair forming an X mark at the center. There are metal buckles along the left side of each shoe, and the build itself goes to just beneath her knee. They are steel toed.

Besides that, the only other notable piece of her clothing would really be her pendant. Alice refuses to sport any other form of jewelry. This pendant is in the shape of the North Star, simple, sleek, and made of a black metal. The star itself is roughly the size of her palm and is not reflective due to its rustic and almost antique appearance.

Weaponry of choice:

1: She has two arming swords (these are also known as knightly swords). An arming sword is a type of European weapon with a single handed cruciform hilt and straight double edged blade of around 27 to 32 in., in common use from the 11th to 16th centuries. Alice’s particular pair is 72 centimeters each (28.3465 inches) and are specially placed. See, though these blades are made of the original layered steel, they have a single center of titanium and a thin outer coat of cellulose nitrate (Alice works with fire in the most intriguing ways possible. Her body has a natural resistance as described previously, and she uses her gloves to start a flame without bare contact from her skin). The blades she carries are all able to catch fire when this technique is applied). The hilt is black with silver designs placed onto the handle, the sheath of similar arrangement though having several buckles and straps for convenience.

Spoiler:

2: At first, these may appear as simple cuffs. After all, isn’t that what they are? Just….thick metal out layers that start at the nip of the elbow and end at an inch before the wrist? Well, yes, and no. These simple “cuffs” actually hide two blades, one on each side, which are released when pressure is applied to an activating device hidden in the palm of her hand (if she applies enough pressure when making a fist, they will come out. Keep in mind that they do not activate every single time she makes a fist, but only when her fingers are specifically placed in what may appear to be an otherwise awkward position. They, like her arming swords, are made of layered steel, a center of titanium, and an outer coat of cellulose nitrate. They are 13 inches in length and the cuffs themselves are removable.

Almost everywhere (from the inside of her coat to a slit in her boot.) Alice keeps knives away from the prying eyes of her enemies, the most obvious sheathed on the sides of her belt. Yet these are easily accessible to her and her alone. These are none other than Scottish Dirks. A Scottish dirk is a longish dagger usually worn as part of full Highland dress for formal occasions. The metal of Scottish dirks measure 12 inches; hers are made of the same material as the other blade type weapons (accept with a silver center opposed to titanium). She has a total of six amongst her person.

Spoiler:

3: Her body is her greatest weapon. Alice has nearly mastered both Krav Maga, Bartitsu, and Silat. Krav Maga is a technique of martial arts created in Israel, and is actually considered to be one of the, if not the, most dangerous techniques in the world. It was actually created by Imrich Lichtenfeld and was specifically intended to be used against the Nazi’s (the irony here is just beautiful). In addition to a lineup of particularly brutal holds, strikes, and take downs, it teaches the use of the M-16 as a melee weapon and multiple, lightning fast ways to take a gun away from an opponent and then attack/kill him with it.

Silat, on the other hand, mainly focuses on those who are not necessarily large in size. It instead looks to those who make up for their body in speed. Literally, in one lightning-fast movement, a Silat master can put you on your back and crush your ribcage. It is a brutal way of fighting and is actually very dirty. It does not look to teach “enlightenment” or “restraint”, rather how to tear the flesh of your enemies with your bare hands.

Bartitsu works towards these three factors:  To first upset the composure of your opponent. Then to bewilder him before he has the chance to regain his proportion and put to use his strength against the likes of yourself. Of course, you cannot forget what she considers to be the most important of these factors (her favorite part), that If necessary, you are required to place any joints of any parts of his body, and place them at your mercy to a point in which they are strained so far past their natural limit that they are anatomically and mechanically unable to resist or function properly.

Alice represents these three forms with near perfection (naturally not without adding her own personal tweaks).

Spoiler:

4: Despite her precision with blades, Alice feels that everybody should have a back-up. That, of course, includes herself. Henceforth, she has two .44 Magnums. These weapons reigned supreme in the handgun hunting fields for years, but the quest for more power resulted in the .454 Casull cartridge. More than existing handgun designs could handle, it found a home in the rugged, yet precise, Freedom Arms SA revolver and ushered in a new era for handgun hunters such as herself and a great many others. The .44 Magnum uses a large, heavy bullet with high velocity for a handgun. In its full-powered form, it produces so much recoil and muzzle blast that it is generally considered to be unsuitable for usage outside of hunting or basic self-defense. Rapid fire is much more difficult and a physical strain on the users' hands, but Alice can handle it well being that even with a smaller build she has a very strong and firm grip.
Although generalized as a .44 caliber, the .44 Magnum is actually .429-.430 caliber. The .44 is a carryover from the early measurements of "heeled" bullets. After the .44 S&W Russian was developed, the forefather of the .44 Special and thus the .44 Magnum, the measurement of bullet caliber, was taken from inside of the cartridge resulting in .429 caliber. The bullets are tipped with a thin coating of silver. The limiting aspect would be the bullet's trajectory; the best hunting bullets are heavy, thus, relatively slow, meaning a significant drop-out of trajectory at ranges beyond 91 m; with a 50-yard zero, the point of which the "line of sight" and the "bullet trajectory" meet, drop-out at 100 yards is about 2 inches, and drop-out at 150 yards is more than 8 inches; with a 100-yard zero, drop-out at 150 yards is more than 6 inches.  The recommendation for limited hunting range would be to 100 yards when shooting the .44 Magnum cartridges, less if accuracy requires it. She keeps these on the back of her belt as well as about 20 rounds of ammunition.

Spoiler:

Race: Special Human

Abilities:
Her brain is not just an information highway, but instead an information super highway. There are pieces to it that the average human mind has been quietly awaiting to evolve. Well, at least that is what her particular mutation allows others to think. First off, I would care to discuss her advanced cerebellum. The cerebellum integrates information from the vestibular system that indicates position and movement and uses this data to coordinate limb movements. As you can imagine, this allows her precision to be basically inhumane, resulting in an incredible case of enhanced speed and the other basic senses. While the normal human brain takes any length of time from one second to days to recall or truly observe a situation, hers reacts at an astonishing speed, her body pulling to the necessary movement sometimes even before her mind has recognized said motion and its cause. Now, her cerebrum is both at an advantage and a disadvantage, the cerebrum (also called the cerebral cortex) consists of the cortex, large fiber tracts (corpus callosum) and some deeper structures (basal ganglia, amygdala and hippocampus). It integrates info from all of the sense organs, initiates motor functions, controls emotions and holds memory and thought processes (emotional expression and thinking are more prevalent in higher mammals). While the sections of it that focus on senses, memory, and motor functions are (much like her cerebellum) amplified, this causes an intense dysfunction in the sections revolving around emotion, again resulting in certain confusion regarding areas of personality that most humans would otherwise find to be entirely natural to be aware of.

The temperature of the body is regulated by neural feedback mechanisms which operate primarily through the hypothalmus. The hypothalmus contains not only the control mechanisms, but also the key temperature sensors. Under control of these mechanisms, sweating begins almost precisely at a skin temperature of 37°C and increases rapidly as the skin temperature rises above this value. The heat production of the body under these conditions remains almost constant as the skin temperature rises. If the skin temperature drops below 37°C a variety of responses are initiated to conserve the heat in the body and to increase heat production. These include Vasoconstriction to decrease the flow of heat to the skin. Secretion of norepinephrine, epinephrine, and thyroxine to increase heat production. Alice’s levels of norepinephrine, epinephrine, and thyroxine are at an all-time high, as well as her Vasoconstriction being what others would consider dangerously low. Because the system which supposedly regulates the temperature of the human body is sentenced by neural feedback, she has the ability to raise her temperature to alarming rates at will. And do to this factor; she can withstand severe forms of heat that her body has adapted to being able to casually encounter. (This also causes her to have a very high metabolism, as expected).

(Though this is not necessarily an “ability”, but I feel I should put towards a message, as I have brought up her brain constantly so far. Because the rest of it is so advanced in so many ways, it is only expected for other parts of it so…..well…..not be kept up. You will find a very interesting characteristic to Alice’s brain... Her frontal lobe is deteriorating. This is discovered as Serotonin syndrome, It is when a child is in the womb of a mother to much serotonin is released into the babies brain, now while the child grows up the serotonin stops producing, so by the age of twenty the frontal lobe starts to deteriorate. The frontal lobe is a humans grip on humanity, without that we can become insane. But because of her body structure, the effects of this went forth much more rapidly than expected, so she was suffering from these results at the early age of 12. This constitutes her constant inner struggle between right and wrong, and her genuine misunderstanding of certain compassionate emotions, as mentioned in the Personality section)

Alice is not bullet proof, nor is she incapable of being hurt by knives or explosions, but where a normal human would suffer a fatal blow, she would not be anywhere as close to being that devastatingly affected. BUT she does NOT have a healing or regenerative factor that is overly abnormal. She feels pain, she goes through the healing process, and she deals with the consequences just like everybody else. She is only harder to inflict a wound upon, that’s all. Her body is much more sturdy than most, as her rating of endurance and stamina are strikingly impressive.

Now that we are through with her solely physical attributes, shall we now move on to her other talents and what-not?
She has proven to have ultimate capabilities with her skills in the martial arts techniques, Krav Maga, Bartitsu, and Silat. Earlier, I gave a fairly detailed description of these techniques (See: Weaponry number 3). She is swift at hand, having more than proficient talent with blades (particularly knives and swords). Though Alice prefers to fight with melee weapons in close-combat or simple hand-to-hand combat, if need be she is a decent shot with a gun. She excels with superior aim when battling in addition to her vast knowledge of the body and the most sensitive weak spots or pressure points, which allows her to be able to take down an opponent who is otherwise much larger and stronger then herself. Because every spare moment of hers is spent in the library, a historical sight, or simply reading a book, she has extensive knowledge on various subjects from medicinal science to basic physics (after all, you can’t have a trained killer without some well-learned class!). This trait functions well both in and out of the battle-field, as apparently obvious. Her abilities to explore tactical strategy are close to expertise, at that. Alice is increasingly acrobatic and flexible, enabling her to stretch her limits of speed even further. She can speak and read fluent Russian and English (you will find that on some occasions she may accidentally start talking in Russian, transitioning from English in a subconscious couple of words. You may also hear a tint of an accent if she lets her American tone slip). Alice has mastered the ability to combine both her book and street smarts when the situation calls for it. She is an expert escape artists, as well as having a tongue as silver as they come. She can smooth talk her way out of most situations, her quick-thinking and sharp wit very much notable along her favorable abilities.

Organization: Generally unaffiliated, only recently became a participant of V.W.A.T.

Personality: Alice Branwen sees everything and everyone in the world, including herself, as two things:

A challenge to overcome and an experiment to tear apart.

She has felt this way for as long as she can remember, even as a small child (always expressing intense urges to cut open and/or burn others for the sake of experimentation). She presents a very intimidating and sadistic personality, often going to extreme lengths while in combat that pertain to the sole purpose of scaring the absolute shit out of her opponents as she fulfills her desires for knowledge, control, and the burning sense of curiosity. Alice is cunning, calculating, intelligent, and fierce. She knows the human body (as well as human psychology) inside and out, so is never against using that information to her advantage. She will sneak into the darkest corners of your mind and exploit your deepest fears and secrets, putting them into her deadly attacks at both your mental and physical forms without a second thought. This girl has almost no morals, often having severe difficulty seeing the line between cruelty and acceptable force (that would make sense being that she is basically, however not entirely, merciless). Alice finds humor in pain, be it her own or anothers. Because of this, when inflicted she finds it to be no more than a simple joke (there are few things that she loves more then to reveal the pun).

A subject that fascinates her more than many others would be that of the undead (particularly vampires). She finds them to be incredible creatures who are highly misunderstood, that are more advanced than humans in so many ways. Alice has even gone as far as to dissect a vampire, as she is always looking for more and more answers regarding them and their creation/culture. But she respects them. She especially respects those who escape the general depiction of their race and Alice will go as far as to admire these spawns of the night. She finds them utterly captivating. Unlike many, her scientific exploits are driven by curiosity, not greed. Yes, she can take things a bit “too far”, and will expand torturous torments upon her subjects and experiments at times, but she sees that as completely natural.

Alice appears alone when it comes to the emotional aspect of life. She cannot fully understand bonds created by friendship or love (most likely because the one experience with such a bond she has ever had, that with her brother, was twisted and screwed up to a point of the relationship’s destruction) and is deeply curious about the connections that others, vampire or human, will form with one another. Despite her apparent inability to completely experience that, she can feel deeper emotions that are not 100% revolving around burning or cutting open anything that she may find fascinating or obnoxious. These tendencies tend to be much more psychotic and chaotic, further revealing her original sense of possible lunacy. Though she may be displayed as lacking any and all forms of morals, she is not entirely heartless.
Despite this cruel and twisted personality, Alice does have a strangely compassionate side that is protective and loyal over comrades. She also expresses intense moral outrage and disgust to others who display cowardice, who give up, run away, beg, and attempt to sell out another person for their own safety, the works. Because however mentally screwed up she may be, Alice would never betray or in any way or form harm a person who she has sworn loyalty towards, and would especially never betray herself by being as pathetic as acting out in a cowardly form. Her constant struggle for answers between “right” and “wrong” are something that creates a large part of her personality. Because after an “episode” of hers….there has been a couple times when Alice has actually experienced bizarre guilt. You can only imagine how much that confused her.

Her expressions regarding joy or excitement are usually fueled by demented intentions, much of this going towards her hidden traits of what many would go as far as to call “insanity”. Her methods, however much they have proven correct or useful, are considered extremely questionable to any people who refuse to stray from the path of society’s set standards of “sanity”.  She welcomes them, these traits that is, and embraces them, always trying to control them to suit her needs.
Alice is also one of those people who seems unfazed by whatever the world may throw at her. Hardly anything surprises her or shocks her. She expects the unexpected, and in those few occasions when she is actually surprised…..she finds it amusing and will praise he/she whom caused such a genuine incident. (NOTE: No, she cannot predict everything, like having the ability magically know she is about to be hit by a bullet at all times. It is not that she isn’t surprised, but more that she doesn’t really recognize those tiny surprises and only looks to those that actually influence something of the bigger picture. Alice is extremely casual in matters, like say, killing a person. She will cut your head off, slice upon your stomach, remove your intestines and set fire to your bleeding carcass without her smile so much as flickering. Alice also sees that as natural, as a part of life. And as a part of life it should be treated as so, no different than blinking or breathing. Slaughter, to her, is a not just a second nature…..but her first.

As to battle:

When in a fight, she is as fearsome as humans come. With her trained eye, her speed, strength, and originality, not only is she fiercely unpredictable, but also incredibly intelligent about the way she handles that personal factor. She becomes a completely different person, no longer hidden behind the glass of calamity and striking serenity (Alice is very much emitting a controlled state when not fighting and is not the kind of person to just burn or attack things for no reason. She likes to work with this as a way of logic. If she is solo, she does as she pleases. If she is working for a higher up, she follows the basic guidelines of the commands). Alice allows herself absolutely ZERO restraint when it comes to a serious fight. This will include her bloody “games”, which are basically toying with and tormenting her opponents till they finally beg and plead for mercy. However, if she is fighting a person who may step outside the norm, she will take equally special courtesy, all varying on whom and what this person is. In example, if she is fighting a particularly feisty person, she will be “respectful” and offer a fairly quick death (not without at least some experimentation, of course), but if they do something like try a trick a bit too dirty for what her offer allows, she will instantly change ideals and rip them to shreds, slowly and surely tearing them apart while they watched….making sure that they were conscious the entire, if not most, of the time. She prefers her targets/opponents/enemies to attack first. This allows her almost instantaneous calculation regarding their movements. She will watch, observe, and analyze in the mere seconds available. Even the tiniest tweak to their fighting style allows her any sort of opening to strike. Her precision extends to her advanced senses (sight, taste, smell, hearing, touch). Alice’s abilities of deduction are nearly astounding, but as everything does, they have their limits. When met with an opponent as intelligent as herself, they will find themselves trapped in a deadly game of cat and cat, no longer cat and mouse. This can continue for a long time, as she savors any chance to go against an opponent who actually proves a challenge or even a simple threat. She wants to find her limits, push past them, and create new ones. It is because of this that she is always on the look to go against a being who will allow her to expand her fields and try harder. There are times when the complications of her discoveries will cause her distraction, a serious fault of hers.
When need be, she WILL fight dirty, but with what she calls “honorable dirtiness”. She refers to it as that because you should EXPECT it, and if you do not, shame on you. So EXPECT devastating blows and fatal attacks that will leave you on the brink of YOUR own limits. EXPECT her to push you to the brim of possible capabilities. EXPECT her to taunt and tease and to lash out with unpredictability. EXPECT…..to get burned.

But, though persistent and powerful, she is not unstoppable. She will sometimes stretch out her games or experiments to a point that is close to her own demise were she to be even the slightest less careful. It is because she does not fear death that she can be a bit reckless in battle. Alice is the kind of person who has looked the hell in the eye and laughed while she unsheathed her blade. She sees no fight as any different, and this can be even more of a problem for her then it can be for he she is working against. There are occasions when…she just can’t stop. And the thing is she will never stop until she’s dead and cold beneath the ground.

There are few things that trouble Alice. One of which not knowing what is going on. When she does not have avid information regarding her situation or position, she becomes genuinely concerned and paranoid. Already, she exhibits a questioning personality (she does not trust anybody, and is always inquiring as to why, what, who, when, where, how, ect), so when her questions remained unanswered……she becomes extremely troubled. The same happens if she is not in some form of control of a situation. When another person is calling every single shot without leaving some sort of wiggle room, she finds herself internally struggling greatly with these restrictions, becoming highly uncomfortable and awkward in communication or other activities. She does not enjoy being in a place where fire cannot be used (such as an environment with high levels of humidity), and will become agitated and prone to outbursts of sudden anger.

Her obsession with fire is even individualized to her own personality, and not just to the usual cases of serial-arsonists. She sees fire as life, as death, as anger, as passion. Alice feels it is one of the very few things in this world that is never capable of being fully controlled or contained, and she loves that. She savors every flame, every lick of the heat, every brush with death it provides. It is wild and untamable, causing her to be drawn to it like an intellectual moth that strayed too far from the books it once ate. Alice believes there is no sight more beautiful than seeing something grand and majestic reverted to nothing but pitiful ashes after a single encounter with this deadly power.

CONTINUED:

((I do apologize for the shoddiness of the biography. I’ve never been very good with putting these sorts of things in basic summaries. Please notify me of any adjustments or clarifications that are in need of placement, as they will be altered immediately.))

Alice had loving parents. They were kind, patient, intellectual, and driven by determination to do what they believed was best for others. In fact, you can hardly imagine a better Mother and Father for any child.

Except for one thing:

Spoiler:

Dr. Sophia and Dr. Joseph Branwen were among the most praised Russian Bio-Engineers of the 20th century. Biological engineering employs procedures of biology (and secondarily of physics, chemistry, mathematics, and computer science) to eliminate problematic indifferences related to the life sciences and/or the application of using engineering's own calculatory and synthetic methodologies. In these circumstances, while traditional engineering administers physical and mathematical sciences to work, biological engineering basically uses the rapidly expanding system of knowledge known as molecular biology to research and improve aspects of living organisms. By putting to use strong sense of general Neuoscience (Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system. It works with chemistry, computer science, bio-engineering, medicine and allied disciplines, philosophy, physics, and psychology. The term neurobiology is usually used interchangeably with the term neuroscience, although the former refers specifically to the biology of the nervous system, whereas the latter references to the entire complications of the nervous system) the Branwens were slowly but surely creating a way to advance the average human into a living being who could actually unlock the full potential of their brain and body. These were private operations funded by the Soviet Union.

They broadened the capacity of neuroscience to focus more towards their needs of this enhancement. By combining the sciences, they were able to work on both the mental and physical status required for this project to be considered a success. They began working with the neural networks, attempting to find ways to rearrange the entire system to a point of what some may go as far as to call “early artificial evolution”.
Anyhow, they then created a pre-mature example of the basic concept. The only thing was, they needed a person to test it on. Of course, the military provided plenty of people for the experimentation, but not a single one of them were capable of working with the serum because their genetic structural outlook was not that in which would consummate with the concept. For these trials, a specific match was required in order to further the research. Sophia Branwen, against the advisement of her husband and superiors, decided to use herself for this seemingly harmless test because of the fact she was actually a match.

The only thing…..she also was pregnant. But being that she was only in the earliest stages of fertilization, she was unaware of this fact. It was only when she in preparation for the procedure that her peers discovered her “current medicinal state” (as with every experiment, the subject is always sent to blood tests and checkups before they are set into place.) Yet, nobody told her or her husband. They decided to go through with the agenda, as not only would they have ONE test subject, but also ANOTHER that was in the womb and not even close to fully developed yet (which would make the fetus prone to a higher level of change).
She was injected with the trial substance, and could only sit back and wait. It was only after the first stage did she find out of her pregnancy. Immediately, fearing the effects the process would have on her unborn child, she attempted to withdraw herself from the program

Big mistake.

Because, even after only the first stage, her body was already experiencing ongoing alterations. She had no choice but to proceed.
But this was also both a mistake and a solution.
It was a mistake, being that the serum was designed for a person who was basically anything BUT carrying (and the serum had not been adjusted to her hormonal changes. This plays a huge part in the aftermath). The effects would not be that in which would normally occur otherwise on the host. It was a solution, being that by continuing, she ended up saving her child’s life.

Joseph was doing everything he could to prevent any negative drawbacks on his wife. After all, he loved her dearly and refused to give in. Yet, it seemed like his efforts were in vain, as the toxins began taking changing the wrong parts of her brain, which then lead to, of course, changing the wrong parts of her body.

By stage 3, Sophia’s mind was already deteriorating, and she was quickly becoming…..mentally unstable.
However, her husband continued to fight for her. He pleaded his superiors to end the trials, as she would not make it, and neither would his children (yes, she was pregnant with twins). But time and time again, they refused him without so much as considering an additional grain of mercy or humanity within the decision itself. After all, they were scientists and military operatives; to them she was nothing more than any other guinea pig undergoing what they called “subtle altercations.”
At this point, Sophia no longer held on to any grasp of her past self. She was becoming a basic vegetable, her motor functions constantly spazzing in the few times they would actually move, and her memory was nearly gone. Joseph, being the head of the research program, refused to further any more trials on his beloved. But, he was met with an option, continue….or face the consequences.

Three days later, Joseph Branwen disappeared by the hands of the Soviet Union and is now presumed to be dead, a new head of the program being appointed within hours of the supposed disappearance.

His wife, however, was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for further investigating and experimentation. (In the twentieth century, systematic political abuse of psychiatry commonly occurred in the Soviet Union. Even today, Russian asylums are faring no better).
Finally, she gave birth to two “interesting” infants. But they were no ordinary babies, as though the serum had negative effects on her, the positive aspects turned towards their favor. Unfortunately, Sophia did not survive the birth because of this.

Alice and Isaiah Branwen were kept within the “hospital”. Much like their mother before them, they were subject to trial upon trial, test upon test. Both of them had to undergo a vicious surgery that would involve cutting upon their backs and removing samples from their spine as to further study the effects of their nervous system (NOTE: Alice’s scar, see Physical Appearance for further details regarding its general advent).

As part of the research, the siblings were put to physical and mental assessments. This allowed their bodies and minds to begin going to their higher capacities, opposed to letting their abilities simply go unconditioned. They were taught basic combat techniques as well as how to read and write (in both English and Russian. Because the particular psychological major who focused on these areas of their “education” was originally from America, Alice speaks with an American accent most of the time). The program was quickly advancing as they grew older and the tests more brutal. It was torture for the sake of science, and was completely legal under the terms of psychiatry. Alice and Isaiah had nobody but each other in this hell on Earth. Their bond was so deep and strong it seemed as though nothing ever could or would be able to separate it.

Nothing until around the time they both were around twelve.

Both of them were meant to be the absolute perfect human beings. But there is no such thing as perfection. Their brains were undergoing serious changes which involved rapid evolution in certain sections. Both of the twins brain’s frontal lobes began to deteriorate (commonly called Serotonin syndrome, It is when a child is in the womb of a mother to much serotonin is released into the babies brain, now while the child grows up the serotonin stops producing, so by the age of twenty the frontal lobe starts to deteriorate. But they started ceasing in the production of serotonin much earlier than the norm). Each of them slowly began to lose their grip on what they each believed to be humanity. Keep in mind: Alice was much more withdrawn. She was not necessarily quiet, but preferred to observe and analyze, using her precise cunning and quick wit. She believed in science despite the pain that it has caused her, and held closely to loyalty. Isaiah, on the other hand, was wildly emotional. Alice contained her emotions and let them out in situations that would benefit her and her brother, but his were always on display no matter the event. He was a naturally bitter person, very manipulative and clever, a natural backstabber, though he lacked the ability to know when to enable him to succumb to these traits at times that would be far healthier to him and his sister. Because of their major differences, they were differently affected. Alice always struggled with self-control and restraint of her…..er…..flammable and experimental tendencies. When her mind began the cycle of this change, she found herself loosing what little restraint she had, causing massive altercations within her personal perception of things. Isaiah became unbelievably paranoid and anxious. Whereas Alice wishes to control herself, her brother wishes to control everybody around him (this includes but is not limited to his sibling). It did not sit well with Isaiah that while in the “hospital” he was in anything but control. He was seemingly helpless, and this began to bubble up a fierce rage inside of him.

Alice also could not stand being trapped. But, unlike her brother, she would strategize and plot, waiting for the chance as soon as it arose, not rushing into something that would only get them killed.
She found her chance in 1991, when Boris Yeltsin seized power and the Belavezha Accords were signed, the decision to disband the Soviet Union had been made and sup¬ported by the governments of Ukraine and Belarus. In December of ’91, Russia’s secession from the Union was sealed, the Belavezha Accords were ratified and the 1922 treaty on the creation of the Soviet Union was denounced. (By mid 1980s the environment in Russia was stressed, to say in the least. The good luck which brought out their success in WWII had been running dangerously low. The total deficit of every¬thing and the black markets did not con¬tribute to keeping the morale up. The Chernobyl disaster as well as war action in Afghanistan had drained the country both psychologically and financially. The public resentment was growing stronger with each passing day).

Because of the now rapidly changing society, the twins “treatment” was also prone to be subject to adjustment. They were to be transferred to a new facility, where the program would be sentenced to further trials to set a final determination of its worth and whether or not the tests should be continued in this “new era”.

It was in the transfer itself that they broke free of this bondage. They were being transported with a total of two military vehicles, one containing two guards the other with four, the first also holding the new head of research himself (the reason there were so few is because of the fact that they did not wish to attract public attention and endanger the project. The kiddos were supposed to be on lock-down, both physically and medically, from handcuffs and medication.). Basically, long story short, in their particular carriage, Alice pretended to be undergoing an overload of her internal heating system. (Over the past two weeks she has had “three others” as to not arrange suspicion for this particular event. She was in complete control of herself the entire time, but nobody besides her and her brother was aware of that). Naturally, one of the guards had to go in the back and check. This is when Isaiah got at that mofo from behind, rendered him unconscious (using his elbows for the blow itself to break his neck) and taking the keys to unlock the cuffs on himself and Alice. As you may have guessed, the commotion caused the other guard to stop the van and see what the hell was going on. This lead the other automobile to cease in movement. Short on time, working together they did the same to this guard as they had to the other (taking their weaponry, of course) and managed to take out the other four with ease (even young and still not fully developed, they were both smarter and faster than these soldiers. They took one of the vans and bolted for it.

Now, where on Earth would these two end up? Moskova, of course. For the around the first year, they stole from and attacked others for money. It wasn’t until a little while that they discovered they could use their well-learned tactical combat techniques to participate in the illegal fighting rings. They were supposed to be just the bait (like with dog fights, how they use “bait canines” to get the crowd and the other dogs going). But they proved too much more than that and found themselves quickly bringing in the rubles (especially Alice with her constant usage of fire while in a fight). The twins were planning on saving up and going to Britain. That had been the general goal, and they really did work for it.

But the effects of Isaiah’s growing paranoia and controlling tendencies were becoming far more severe. In fact, I would go as far as to call it schizophrenia in the later stages. He thought everybody was against him…..even his sister. He became incredibly reckless and irrational, constantly attacking without provocation and verbally/physically lashing out on others for no apparent reason. Alice was the first to notice this. She tread as carefully as she could, but always keeping her twin under a watchful eye. When he was sixteen, driven by the crazed concept that she was going to murder him and leave, Isaiah tried to kill her. In this situation, she truly did what she could to attempt to preserve his life and their partnership. But she knew, even then, that he was too far deep in his own anxiety to ever step out. With a cold coating over her heart, and an oddly sad look in her eye, Alice in turn…..had to kill him.

She took what money they had and caught a place on a cargo plane heading for America (notice she decided to go to the USA, not Britain as originally planned). It was there that she encountered her first vampire.
Alice had heard rumors and tales of blood-suckers. She looked at them objectively, always countering what stories she heard with blatant curiosity. After a normal fight in her new “home”, she was attacked by a Class F. Even with such a low level of strength on the scale of vampirism, she was mesmerized by the creature and truly captivated by its existence. But, unfortunately, the damned creature to too focused on the attack to actually take anything else into consideration, so she had no choice but to put it down. Yet, it was this incident which fueled her undying blaze for finding more and more. For a while, she followed more rumors around, tracking what she could to make a decent penny when and where she could off of locals for her contribution. It was on her little chase that she then crosses paths with the V.W.A.T. This naturally lead to her being recruited (at first, not entirely by choice. Her “illegal” activities had been recognized, and she was offered an option. Of course, it all worked out for the better because she got to do what she loved, tracing the supernatural and eliminating those who posed a threat). She’s been with them for the past few months.

Darkness.

Just…..one….simple word, yet it manages to strike fear into the quivering heart of he who hears it. Humans have a natural fear of it. Because of that, the very shadows in which they are afraid consume the terror created by their own minds. It is this same fuel that kills them. And when one is so petrified of the dark, when they refuse to grant it and understanding or agreement, when they allow their self-created distress to take hold of their emotions, that person shall be consumed by the inner nightmare they try so hard to push away. As not all are strong enough to embrace the darkness or keep it at bay. Some are just eaten alive.
That’s how it works.
It may be unfortunate, it may be sad, or cruel, or heartbreaking…..but most of all…..it is true.
And the truth hurts more than anything else. Acceptance is the only way to overcome it. Once you have sincere recognition, then , and only then, may you defeat the obstacle provided by this brutal honesty.

Acceptance.

Recognition.

Brutal honesty.

They had to be met with a stiff upper lip and straight shoulders. With a sword unsheathed and bullets renewed. With a cold heart and a clear mind.
As so, this is what she would do now. There was no other option, and even if there was, she doubted it would make any difference in the near outcome. Still, she refused to give up. The girl would see this through to the end.
Failure, as always, was not an option.

"Well?!? WHAT are YOU waiting for?! I....I commanded you to back off!"

His deliverance was shrill and anxious, filled with fear and doubt. It strained to be heard above the rapid fire of the rain.
How ironic should the sky cry on such a night, on this very night, to cover the paranoid anguish caused by the young male who was so incredibly open with his blatant fury.
“Have you truly sunk to such a level that you no longer provide your opponent their dignity when you threaten their life?”
Cold heart.
Clear mind.
Sound voice.
A tiny smile played at the lips of the female who returned his vicious inquiries. But it was not a smile of happiness, nor joy, excitement, or even dementia. No, it was a smile of indifference.
The male’s eyes widened, his throat releasing a small, captive grunt. She in turn opened her eyes. Strands of a violent red coating her face, dripping with the water that fell from the clouds…..even through these thick, wildly wet locks you could see the sudden piercing vibrancy of her now exposed pupils.
“You have no say in this! Do as…as I tell you!”
The gun shook within his hands, both from the cruel weather and his own anticipation. He shifted his feet, keeping the sight of the barrel locked onto his target.
Alice’s mouth pulled into a wider smile. “Or you’ll what? Shoot me? Isn’t that already your plan, Isaiah?” He grits his teeth in growing agitation, his voice lowering into an animalistic growl. “My plan is to be rid of you once and for all. So you can’t stab me in the back when the opportunity arises! “
She made a “tasking” sound, her head slowly shaking from left to right. “You should know by now that when I put loyalty into place it stays in place. Isaiah, you are so caught up in your own delusions you are no longer capable of seeing—“
Her words were interrupted by a sudden gunshot, the bullet  skimming the stone beside her boots.
“SHUT UP!” Isaiah frantically shouted. “Your words! Your words are nothing but poison! You lie! You’ve been planning…planning all along!”
Even at this outburst, her serenity was as unwavering as her smile. Alice finally looked directly at the face of this enemy.
He was as ferocious and untamable as he had been growing to be for a long time. His usually smooth features were strained and twisted into a barbaric appearance, his striking auburn hair matching hers in both color and placement. This was no longer the boy she had grown up with, had cared for, had worked with. This was an animal. And an animal in need of being put down, at that.
“Planning what, Isaiah? You are the one who tried putting a bullet in my back. I never had such an intention.”

The rain poured even harder now. If Alice had not been so focused on the problem at hand, she would have surely gone into a fit of fury at not having current capabilities to draw forth a flame. Accordingly, her smile slipped into a cool grimace of sort. She took a step forward….and was rewarded by a yet another bullet just barely missing her face. The girl narrowed her eyes. What was he playing at? He could have just shot her already…..yet he did not. Maybe her words were startling the madness within his brain. This, however, could not be relied upon. She took another step.
“Stop, stop, Stop! You will stop, Alice! I shall shoot you straight through the heart, right where you stand! Do not come closer, as the fluids of your death are venom.” His eyes were dark glazed over, like a fearsome mannequin built for an unstable puppeteer. “And I refuse to let those toxins touch me when they spill from your body.” Isaiah spat.

So, she stopped, raising her hands. “You forget, we share blood. If I an infected as you claim...."
Her smile returned.
"Then so are you."
Alice gave an oddly casual shrug before he could respond.
"Your blindness will be your demise. Either way, please, if you are going to shoot me....do it now. I am tiring of your pathetic games."

Isiah was quiet accurately becoming blind. His own rage has devoured him from the inside out, and even his vision was cornered by links of artificial darkness. Yet, he would hardly admit this to himself. Instincts were taking over, his actions were being clouded by his desire to eliminate all obstacles.
She was an obstacle.
No human was allowed to be his equal.
NONE.
They all must perish! Alice was going to get him, she was going to kill him and abandon him. No, no, no. He wouldn't let her. If she was gone by his hands before she could leave, he'd be saving himself. Their bond was no longer within existence. It has disintegrated long before this point had been reached.

Poison.
Poison.
Her words were poison.
She was poison.
She must die!

But why was she so calm? Why...why was she just standing there like that? She was trying to tease him! Trying to show off, how...how....she was in control! She dared to call him pathetic!
Isiah began twitching. His muscles rippled with anticipation. Yes, yes, she can't go if she's dead. His mouth opened, hungry in its demented smile. "Fine! Consider it done, Alice! Now you can NEVER hurt me! [i]BECAUSE [i]I AM IN CONTROL! NOT YOU, AND NOT ANYBODY ELSE!"

And with that, he pulled the trigger, a bullet headed straight towards the destination of the girl only yards in front of him. It shot straight through the rain, straight through the wind, straight through the single link which he had shared with Alice.

Then, of course, she gave a vicious and vital twist to the left, ducking beneath the lead as it was only able to claim a token of her blood stained hair, momentarily revealing the recent knife wound which had been inflicted beneath her ear not so long ago. It was like a single second had been stretched into the very eternity that contained them. As the bullet, aimed for her heart, shattered something else, something far more fragile.

[i]A grain of trust

Alice reached behind her, her fingers grasping onto the familiar black hilts strapped to her back. Isiah fired again, but as her hands formed a firm grip upon the hilt of these hidden devices, she darted back and forth between stone settings. She pulled the blades from their covers, the sheen of metallic brightness glistening in the thinning liquid droplets. Setting off a flurry of the clips remaining ammunition, it only set dents within the stone. He clicked again, watching in horror as she jumped into the air, one of her two swords raised.....only having enough time to remove his own melee weapon from its sheath at his side when he cast aside the handgun. They clashed with a frightful screech, the weapons skidding off each other with a violent jerk. They both were sent back, but only for an instant before she went at it again.
He released a roar of depletion, twirling his own blade to catch the opposite side of hers. The weapons, each as different as the wielder that held them, clashed at horizontal positions.
The opponents leaned closer together, their muscles tensing fiercely as they secretly struggled to hold this position. Alice, however, revealed none of this.
"We do not have to continue, Isiah. Set down your weapon and we will handle this with logic opposed to instinctive violence."
Even as she said it, the girl knew it to not be true. Isiah also knew it to not be true.
"Hah! Do you take me....me as a fool?"
The swords broke the temporary hold, swinging to the opposite side of their holders.
This time, Alice brought hers to a lower blow, still using only one hand to bring down the weapon. In immediate reaction Isiah took his to block the attack, only to be met with a strike to the face by her free appendage. His face squished from the motion, sweat indistinguishable from rain, it whipped back into place only sporting a more angered look.
"That was a dirty trick!"
"Says the boy who attempted to stick a knife in my head from behind."
Her voice was still so casual, so calm, so collected. As she still persisted, bringing up the sword to his chest, it was unchanging.
This only made him angrier, and she was fully aware of that.

Alice switched pressurizing positions on her feet, sliding them in a stretching position as she dodged a rough slice. His sword was much heavier then hers, therefore allowing her a longer time between each attack. But this also meant that if she was to be caught by it...the blow itself would be near crippling depending on which area of her body it struck. "Grrrraahhhh!" Isiah shouted, his body twisting. They raised blades once more, synchronized in perfect unison, parrying off one another in such equivalent balance that it was nearly a beautiful endeavor to observe.
Alice and Isiah seemed to dance within a dangerous challenge life and death.

"Why do you work against me? We are stronger together then apart."

He grunted at her verbal contradiction, swinging to her left. The flat part of his blade caught her arm as she turned to avoid the attack. She clenched her teeth, but otherwise did not reveal any signs of forms of the stinging pain shooting up her tendons.
Alice absorbed the blow with simplistic ease.
"I reject unity with you! There can be no equal to my strength! My honor dictates your annihilation!"
It was her turn now. No more of this...this....game. Her eyes flickered a darker emerald, no longer reflecting the glints of silver between their clashing primaries.
She saw his own face, beyond that of the human it was supposed to represent. He was a physical shadow of his past self, not worthy of her time. Like all other enemies, he would be destroyed. There was nothing to repair here, the ropes of their past had been cut by his knife.
His rejection of himself, of her, brought his own death......as it would be soon enough.

"You have no honor. You lack the right to claim that reason to your actions."
She spun a 360 formation on her heel, ducking low again from his offense, and shooting out her leg to catch his.
While he did not fall, Isiah's knee was hit with an enthralling crack of pain. He shouted in the sudden feeling, his nerves on fire with the desperate warning signals they flared into his brain. In an attempt to return this favor[i], he grasped his hilt with two hands, raising it high as she brought hers to his head.

[i]CCCHHHIINNNGG!

They slid, colliding at the handles. He shoved his head into her torso, pushing it up. Alice was sent back as the swords released one another yet again. Legs spread apart, arms held up at each side, her hair pulled back by the movements. A vicious grin spread onto her face.
"Alright then."

She leapt forward, her feet leaving the ground as she jumped ahead. Isiah twirled half-way to the side, sliding around. Her blade hit the stone where he had stood with a violent shaking, sending rippling reflections into the metal. She had landed in a crouching position, the ends of her jacket spreading around her in a circular section.

Isiah, sporting a shortened adrenaline-fueled cry, headed directly towards her back.
She did not move.
She did not flinch.
She only kept a smile on her face, hidden by the tangled pieces of her mane that flopped before her eyes.
His boots on the ground.
Crunching the dust.
Rain against his jacket.
The breathing of his heart.
A sword headed just above her back.

And by supporting her weight onto her own hands which were planted ever so firmly atop her own [i]end of extension, Alice's legs went backwards and grasped his own, immorally and forcefully bending them. His blade caught the edge of her jacket, but that was all it [i]could do. He was turned the opposite direction as she propelled her own body towards where he now stumbled. She was able to turn around with him, her sword still withholding its stance in her hands.
"Isiah, it's time for this madness to end!"
The boy was falling back, a growl planted on his face as she rushed down with him, her teeth bared in defiance.

Then a gunshot rang out, stopped short as the bullet itself came into contact with a hard, moving object.
Alice's eyes widened.
Isiah's mouth spread into a smile.
She caught herself by using her feet, spinning on the soles of her boots to a standing position to the side, the blade not leaving her cold grip.
She looked down, glancing at the trickle of blood that now gently fell from her chest, slowly spreading through the white of her shirt. Isiah's eyes flashed a menacing harshness while he shakily pulled himself to his feet, twirling the gun in his fingers as he checked hidden holster of his jacket.
"I always have a back-up."
Alice returned a sadistic smile.
"Right.....the back-up policy."
She took a step back, shoes scrapping against the wetness of the slippery stone. The rain, however lightly it now fell, continued to streak these silver orbs in front of their vision.
His lids momentarily closed, his grin spreading wider despite his strain.
"Always."
Alice took another step back, finding herself being pressed against the nearest structure. Isiah was in front of her before she could say anything else, holding the gun to her head.
"Of course.....I....wouldn't expect anything less."
The barrel, cool to the touch of its smooth metal, slid down her neck, straight to her shoulder.
Without so much as blinking, he fired.
"Gah!"
It was a physical outburst of her own blood and tendons, as Alice watched from the corner of her eyes as her body was sprayed across the wall. But after that single shout she only clamped her jaws shut and allowed her adrenaline to mask the pain.
This pain was nothing.
Nothing.
That means it's just great[i].
"I'm...gonna feel....that one in.....the morning."
She smirked, her voice dripping her usual clever wit. Yet in response, the gun (now covered in her own bodily fluid) traced back of the broken path it had traveled, smearing the substance across her clothing and neck...her face....and finally stopping at her forehead once more.
"Oh Alice. There won't [i]be
a morning. You are tainted. Unpure. A waste. While you chose your "independence".....I have chosen the path of God."
He smiled.
"So that I may surpass God himself!"
Too that she outright laughed, even with her injury. He looked horrified, suddenly stricken as though somebody had slapped him across the face.
"HOW THE HELL IS THIS FUCKING FUNNY?! I'M HOLDING A GODDAMNED GUN TO YOUR HEAD!"
Her laugh stopped short, but her taunting grin remained.
"How do you....expect to....to....surpass God....when you cannot even defeat me?"
He narrowed his eyes in disgust, instantly pistol-whipping her across the face. "Witch. I am going to shoot you now, and put and end to your treachery and snake-like tongue once and for all."
And like the snake he spoke of, his fingers coiled around the trigger before she had the chance to speak, pulling it back as though moving through water.
Ever so close to his goal.
She was going to be gone.
Once and for all.....he had finally won.
"Bye bye, dear sist--
Ah!"
Crack!
Click!
His mouth formed an "o" of shock, his eyes becoming smaller against the pale white of his face. Immediately, his grip on the gun loosened......and the device fell from his fingers only to clatter against the wet floor bellow them.
But Isiah was oblivious to all of this. All he could see was her smile as his eyes, almost unwillingly, trail to the warm feeling spreading through his chest.
And of course, his peering look was met by the Scottish Dirk now plunged directly into his chest. Alice's own hand was wrapped tightly around it.
He looked back to her, almost confused, though certainly lost.
"What? You think you're the only one with a back-up?"
She chuckled. Isiah glanced at her chest, the spot where he had supposedly shot her before. He tried to open his mouth to speak but found himself unable to grasp words.
Alice raised an eyebrow.
"Wondering how I am not falling to the floor dead right now, huh?
Well, dumb-ass, you only skimmed my chest. I moved just enough so that you would think I was critically wounded and that you would in turn put down all of your defenses.
As always, I was correct."
So cool....so cold....so cruel.
She couldn't be human.
"See, Isiah, you will not be surpassing God."
She pressed the weapon harder against him, forcing the weakening male to step back.
"No no, you will be going to hell." She kept walking, forcing her twin back with her.
"But you need not fear, Isiah, because I will meet you there. And once again we may battle, but this time in the flames of the damned."
Alice leaned close to him, her breath like ice and smelling of her own blood as she spoke.
"Send my regards to Lucifer."
With that, his own sister plunged her blade even deeper into the chest of his dying frame. This time, her hand went in with it, sinking deeper and deeper into his injury. Isiah opened his mouth to scream again, but like last time found verbal communication far beyond his grasp. Blood began spewing from his lips. It was then that Alice's fingers wrapped around his beating heart, piercing it with the knife and scraping it with her own hands.
He crumbled to his knees, only not falling completely because of the girl's incredible grasp on his own body.
"Bye bye, dear brother."
And then the weapon went all the way through him, her hand clutching his beating heart as it exploded from his back. His eyes began to fade, the intense heat of his body doing the same. He was burning on the inside, like and internal fire, but she did not mind.
Because not all are strong enough to embrace the darkness or keep it at bay. Some are just eaten alive.
That’s how it works.
It may be unfortunate, it may be sad, or cruel, or heartbreaking…..but most of all…..it is true.
And the truth hurts more than anything else. Acceptance is the only way to overcome it. Once you have sincere recognition, then [i], and only
then, may you defeat the obstacle provided by this brutal honesty.

Strength.

Fearlessness.

No mercy.

So in that very moment, the life of Isiah Branwen flickered out like the last ember of a once vibrant flame.
In that very moment, Alice removed her fingers from his, as this was the very appendage of hers which had the arm injured from his arrogance.
They had left the womb holding hands....
And her brother would leave this world holding hers.

Then the rain finally stopped, leaving the sibling's blood to mix once more in a last pool of unity.

((Alright, I'm ready for judgement, alterations, whatever need be done, lay it on me and I'll comply))

I don't know whether to be impressed or afraid of this thing. I think I'm going to do both.

Never understood why people always want to explain their names. Especially villains. Every second you spend telling me the history of your obsessions and how your mother never loved you is another second I have to cut through my ropes and throw a Batarang in your face.

You're never going to go out drinking with the other criminals like that.

Kind of underweight for her height, but it's not too bad, since she has a small frame. Not sure if the skin thing will matter down the line or it's just a thing.

Dyed, I assume.

Little purple and some of those words are worrying me, but it's going good so far.

A practical outfit for combat. It's good. Not really sure what the Roy Mustang gloves are about, but I'm guessing it's explained later.

Spoiler:

These are...weird, but at least you've offered an explanation as to how they work. I'm a little timid to give you two of them. It seems like one would be easier to use and light, and two flaming swords is a bit excessive.

Two flaming knives is easier to swallow than two flaming swords, so we're pretty good here. Could you add some length and such to these? Also, are they wrist blade deals, or can you take them off?

Flaming Knives of Fire wrote:

Yet these are easily accessible to her and her alone. These are none other than Scottish Dirks. A Scottish dirk is a longish dagger usually worn as part of full Highland dress for formal occasions. The metal of Scottish- dirks measure 12 inches; hers are made of the same material as the other blade type weapons (accept with a silver center opposed to titanium). She has a total of sixteen amongst her person.

This is getting excessive. I can give you a couple of those, but sixteen is too many.

She keeps these on the back of her belt.

Race: Special Human

Abilities:
Her brain is not just an information highway, but instead an information super highway. There are pieces to it that the average human mind has been quietly awaiting to evolve. She just got there before the rest of mankind, that’s all.

That's a lot of science talk. I can see how that sort of stuff could be possible. I'd like you to change the mention of how she got it from a "new level of evolution" type thing (since that's a pretty big stretch to say humans of the future are going to end up like her) to something along the lines of mutation.

Rest seems like a fairly decent set of skills for a soldier. You keep using "I", though; don't do that. Write in third person only in the future.

Sounds like Doctor Stein. I have a feeling you like anime from BONES.

You're pushing things a little here, describing her as some sort of an indestructible badass. Keep it fair in play.

Oh, damn. It did the same to me.

I'd normally question how people could go through with stuff like that due to the legal ramifications, but it's Soviet Russia and beating the Americans was more important than the health of their workers. I can approve of it.

Wow, parents that didn't abandon, abuse, or try to kill their child on purpose. This is rare for a biography.

Little bit suspicious about the doctor being from America. Cold War Russia wasn't known for its open-arms policy to Western immigration.

Oh, shit! Again!

Maybe the actual CRIMAXU? wrote:

Then he started spitting plasma and flying around and shooting red lasers from a ring.

Dear God this is long. Even so, I'm still fairly interested in what's happening. That's a good sign.

With a cold coating over her heart, and an oddly sad look in her eye, Alice in turn…..had to kill killed him.

Too bad. You probably could've gotten someone to play him if you kept him alive. I'd have liked to see that sort of thing at a later date.

That fight makes me question her powers. Are her physical abilities on par with a level of vampire, or is she just using training, luck, and quick thinking to beat this guy? You say she's strong, faster, etc. to regular people, but don't give a quantified amount, so I'm having to wonder. Should have asked this earlier, but I was more interested in the brain stuff.

Then the rain finally stopped, leaving the sibling's blood to mix once more in a last pool of unity

I would say her physical abilities are about that of a Class F vampire in statistics, though really it is successfully channeled due to training, luck, and quick thinking.
Would you rather I provided another sample that better represented that situation? I have no problem doing that.

And sorry about my bio being so damn long.
._.

So besides that, anything else? And thanks for your time.

No, I meant that was a good thing. Samples are rarely entertaining; even from our veterans. I think it's because we're all so bored from doing it so many times, we don't really feel like making a story out of it. Yours was not that.

Length was nice. You don't have to spell out everything like you did for future reference, but it shows you put a lot of research into this character and want to make the effort to convince us that all of this could potentially happen.

Oh. Never-mind, then. Very Happy
Huh, that means a lot. Much gratitude is extended. I'm surprised it turned out halfway decent. I nearly shot the computer when it shut off in the middle of my typing it, so I ended up having to rewrite the whole thing. Talk about a shitstorm, I have the absolute worst memory when it comes to attempting to create something specific for the second time.

That's good to know! It'll be kept in mind for next time.
Heh, I'm glad you noticed. I like to have plausible aspects to the characters I create, no matter the circumstance. It makes them much easier to become connected with, you know?

Hold off on voting until she's had a chance to edit, anyone else. Most of what I want is for fairness purposes by defining the weaponry better.
