| This place was lonely. In that way, it wasn't much of a change from where she'd always been. There hadn't been anyone else around following the initial tour, even though the man had said there would be plenty of people ready to answer any questions she might have as she explored. Her doctor had been delayed at the airport; he was unable to make the earlier time she left from, and bad weather had prevented him from coming in the next possible time frame. It would have been nice to have a friend (or the closest thing she could have to a friend) around to make this place less foreign. |

| Walking the hall ways and getting used to his new environment Volke studied the place carefully committing every single detail to memory. He would need to do this before he could. "relax" in this place. Or rather what he considered relaxing. Which was coming up with the best possible way to defend this place which he would be staying with.
Volke only stopped when he saw the new peculiar figure in the hall way. He hadn't met this person so far but his memories or rather his database when brought up was able to tell him that she was in fact an agent.
Making his way over to her he introduced himself formally and with little to no emotion as he was merely going to get through the introductions as fast as he could and get back to work.
Extending his hand he said.
"I am Volke. You are apparently agent STRENGTH. Pleased to meet you." |

| Staring at a camera, Yuu nearly fell over backwards when she heard the sound of this person. She looked at his hand, remembering that Americans liked to grab each other like that when they were introduced. She looked at her arms, clearly unable to return the gesture (why he had even thought she could in the first place was a mystery), and decide to bow. Apparently, he already knew who she was, so an introduction seemed unnecessary. She kept her head down, using her hood to hide most of her face. |

| Volke in his haste to get over with these introductions had failed to take in the state of her hands. Hmm. That was an unwise move it appeared. As his greeting would not be able to be accepted. However when the girl had bowed to him he could at least rectify his mistake.
Bowing the way he had been taught in his martial arts classes when he was a normal human which was making his head go as low as hers did which he backed up for and maintaining eye contact to show respect he said to her.
"My apologies. It appears I have overlooked your arms current condition." |

| "Current condition." That's how he described her body; like some kind of disease. How far off was he, though? Those abominations had just about ruined her life, so she could see why he'd think she was so volatile. She thought so herself, anyway. No reason to take offense.
She placed her arms behind her back as best as she possibly could, feeling more ashamed of them than usual. Still looking down, she just shook her head. "It's fine," she mumbled. |

| Volke has apparently made a horrible first impression. Any such negativity between the two might hurt their abilities in combat if they were assigned to work together. He made note of her appearance of shame and hiding of her arms and decided to attempt to once more make an attempt to greet this person without damaging their compatibility in combat. Volke spoke to her in a matter of fact kind of voice about his short comings not feeling much shame in them as they didn't necessarily hurt his combative abilities directly.
"I must warn you right now. I am a horrible people person. I have no intention of insulting you or your appearance. It could be assessed that I say things to literally and do not often take into consideration how others view my words. When I mention your current condition. My attempt was to say simply with no negative implications that I have failed to grasp the limitations of your arms. Which in fact everyone has. I hope you can understand my limitations in social situations."
Volke had spent way more time on this conversation than he had intended. It might be a good idea to learn how to communicate better in the future. But for now he would simply have to hope that she would understand his 'limitations in the social situation department.' Although in truth he really didn't expect her to forgive him for his lapse of thought as he was almost completely sure that he must have said something else wrong. |

| The long speech the man had given was rather confusing, mostly because her English wasn't fluent enough to understand all the bigger words he'd just said. She managed to understand that he was trying to apologize. There was no reason to, though. It wasn't like he'd said anything that wasn't true. She only nodded, saying again, "It's fine." The whole conversation was making her very uncomfortable. She was really thinking about just running away and trying to find somewhere small and quiet to be by herself. She could wait there for as long as it took for the doctor to arrive. |

| Ah this was good. She had said it was fine without any real symbols of this being a mere front of some sort. Volke thinking that he had succeeded completely in making a great first impression bowed once again to her and said.
"Now If you do not mind I think I shall be taking my leave of this area."
Volke stepped to the side and continued his intense scanning of the VWAT base. He was glad to be leaving that person where they were and really hoped that they wouldn't follow him as that would simply hinder him in his attempts to study this area. In a while he would be looking at his room. But for now he would memorize the layout of this building.
------> Exit unless you wish to stop me. Which I doubt. To wherever the frik Volke is going next. |

| It was finally over. Returning the bow out of courtesy, she payed no mind as the man walked away. Scampering off a bit faster than before, she continued the venture in hopes of finding the rooms. She was completely lost, though, so the extra speed wasn't doing much good. |

| Enter from Senka's cell -------------------------- The first time since being caught had he been allowed to walk without a guard escort, perhaps they had just been there to show him around without getting lost. It didn't take long for him to walk past a soldier however, the soldier gave him a slight glance but didn't pay him much mind. The soldier seemed to exude confidence, obviously not giving a damn what Senka was doing. Maybe it had trackers built into it as well, the thought didn't rest well with him. It put him in a semi bad temper, he had felt curious before but now all he wanted to do was just walk aimlessly. With the tension in his foot, that thought wasn't the best idea he'd had all morning. A few hallways he looked down, but none held his interest for long. Too quiet and not enough activity, the few soldiers he did see glanced at him indifferently and kept on loading crates into a room or whatever menial task they seemed to be doing.
Senka walked for some time in nothing but silence apart from the winces of pain that came from him in sharp breaths every now and then. Still he kept his walking straight and upright, never pausing to lean on the walls when it got too painful even when they looked so comforting. It wasn't until about fifteen minutes had passed before he stopped walking because of something he heard. It might've been gunshots but it sounded rather fuzzy. He opened the door and was surprised to see that there was a tv, pool table and a whole lot else. -------------- Exit to the recreation room

| Enter from the Rec room ---------------------- The slight limp in Senka's otherwise smooth stride put him to watching how he was walking. It was annoying to no extent, that cyborg, he wanted to kill again, if not just to make this injury worth it. It was pathetic, losing his edge or worse was enough to make him go looking for an open space to practice in, stretch out his muscles at least. It didn't take long at all to find the room he was looking for, he had passed it in the hallways earlier, didn't think he'd need it but plans changed of course. ------------------- Exit into workout center and sparring room | |

| Claire walked through the halls of the Fort Belvoir with a key with a paper tag on it in her hand. "Why do all these halls look the damn same!" Claire groaned looking around she was currently in a hall filled with doors. Of course all of these doors had no indication of where they led to. Each time she'd asked someone for directions they either brushed her off or gave her directions that led her absolutely fucking nowhere. It didn't help at all that they had stuck all of the survivors from Facility 17 on a 3 hour flight at 3 AM in the morning and she was literally operating on only maybe an hour of sleep mainly due to the incessant snoring of the large man sitting next to her on the plane.
"God how does he even snore that loud? Did he swallow a damn megaphone or what?" Claire muttered rubbing her eyes as a short bout of exhaustion washed over her. She walked down the hall looking down at the letter and number on the tag attached to the key once more. She looked at the numbers written on the doors and sighed finding herself once again in the wrong section. The key tag clearly said room F-7 but here she was standing in the V section of the base how she'd managed to achieve getting so lost she would never know. Perhaps it was because of the crappy directions given to her at every turn or maybe she just had a bad sense of direction. Whatever the reason Claire just wanted to find someone who could really help her and wouldn't just send her off in some random direction to get her out of their hair. The next person who did that to her was going to be getting a knuckle sandwich the next time she saw them. In all honesty her first day of work could be going much better than it was right now.
Claire finally breathed out a sigh and stopped the nearest person to her. "Excuse me...could you tell me how to get to the F-Wing of the building I'm kinda lost." Claire said smiling though a closer observation would definitely reveal the young woman's annoyance at her current navigational situation. |

| Turning around he looked at VWAT's newest member. The woman he supposed whom must be Claire Kelly. She asked him a question about finding a room and Volke having completely explored all of this place that he could a little earlier knew instantly where she was talking about. But he hated giving directions so nodding his head at her he responded.
"Certainly, if you'd like to follow me, I can lead you there."
Volke noted her smile but also detected a hint of annoyance. He wondered if this implied a lack of discipline about her. That perhaps she was failing in controlling her emotions/ appearance. Or maybe it was that she just didn't care.
Volke extended his hand noting that this woman had normal arms and asked her.
"I am Volke, What would you like me to call you?" |

| Claire nodded her smile widening as she finally met someone who could really help her and not just point in some random direction and walk off. "Thanks I really appreciate the help." Claire said. She cocked her head as she noted the look on the man's face it seemed like he was focusing quite a bit on her. "Um...Is something wr-" Claire began only to be interrupted as he abruptly stuck his hand out and introduced himself.
"Umm nice to meet you Volke I'm Claire, Claire Kelly." She said shaking his hand wincing as she shook it. His grip was uncomfortably tight when he released her hand she shook it out a bit. Something about him was off. She could understand being stoic but this guy was like talking to a brick wall. She felt a tinge of guilt however at her thoughts. He was the first person to genuinely offer to help her around here. "So...Volke...You don't look like a scientist or a soldier. So what do you do around here?" Claire asked trying to start conversation with Volke.
Claire's first impressions on Volke were a bit limited mainly due to the limited interaction she'd had with him. But also in due part to what seemed to be this unnatural stoicism that he seemed to bear. |

| He nodded figuring as much, then broke into a light smile as she asked him what he did around here. He wondered why he didn't exactly look like a soldier to her but decided it would be more interesting to pull out his knives.
Volke began walking slowly towards the barracks making sure that she knew to follow him before he began speaking and responded to her.
Volke said as he pulled out one of his knives and offered it to Claire.
"Perhaps I do look a bit older than most might expect in this business. But I am soldier. Just recently arrived here myself actually. As you can see, my preffered weapon is the knife. In fact, that is really my only weapon. (Then continuing knowing that she would think it rather dumb of him to only carry knives) And don't worry, I realize I'm a little out dated. But luckily enough for me. I've been given a few knives blessed with some newer technological improvements. So how about you? What do you do? Do you specialize in anything? I'm thinking your another soldier but I'm entirely sure. "
Volke was talking more than he normally would in perhaps an entire day. But he was actually genuinely interested in this person. As the first step to getting to know how one fights. Is getting to know that person themselves. |

| Claire gave a nervous smile back at Volke. So Mr.Volke wasn't as stoic as she thought he was. She raised an eyebrow as he pulled out a knife a sense of defensiveness overtook her. She wasn't used to people just pulling knives out while carrying on a conversation but as he continued walking she could only guess it was a habit for him. Still the presence of the weapon made her uncomfortable she'd never really did well in her CQC class back in boot camp.
She followed him quietly dragging her suitcase behind her with her duffel bag slung over one over shoulders. She jumped a bit as he turned suddenly holding the blade in his hand out to her by the grip. Her hand strayed closely to the shoulder holster hidden beneath her white button up where her Beretta sat safely tucked away for use. When she finally noticed that he was offering her the blade and not threatening her with it she moved her hand away from her firearm accepting the knife. It was a strange one that she'd never seen before, not that she often worked with knives maybe a scalpel every so often but knives definitely were not her strong suit.
As she fiddled with the blade in her hand looking over the hilt and edge with forced interest she heard Volke begin talking with her as they continued walking. She raised an eyebrow as he mentioned using only a knife as his weapon part of her couldn't help but wonder if this guy was either brave or stupid. Eventually she settled on thinking of him as both. "I'm a field medic. I'm also receiving training so I can double up as a designated marksman." Claire said her fingers wandered over a ring on the side of the knife. She raised an eyebrow and out of curiosity pulled the ring. She screamed as the blade shot out of the hilt embedding itself in Volke's chest.
On instinct she dropped the hilt of the knife in her hand. "Oh my god!!" Claire said in shock and shame her hands covering her mouth as she stared at the blade protruding from Volke's torso. Her hands reached out to pull it out but her medical training kicked in reminding her that pulling the blade out would only increase the flow of the bleeding. "Um just stay calm we'll go to the infirmary and..." Claire then noticed that Volke seemed unfazed by the newly acquired injury. "Um...Usually most people are screaming right about now..." Claire said rubbing the back of her head this entire situation was getting stranger by the moment. |

| Volke tried to sidestep the knife and avoid the blade thus avoiding the strange situation which was about to occur but he wasn't prepared for friendly fire. At all. The knife stuck into him with a thunk and he glanced down at it as Claire started freaking out about hitting him with his knife. He merely bit his lip as she spoke and and then swiftly pulled the knife out. He then looked at her and began thinking of how to explain this to her.
"Yes...Most people would, but I am not most people. To tell you the truth some would doubt that I am even human. Claire, have you ever seen a movie perhaps or read a book about a man who combined himself with technology? Becoming what you would call a cyborg? Well I suppose there is no easier way to do this than to admit that I am such a man."
Volke held out his arm from which his knife canon sprung out quickly and then came back into the forearm just in case she didn't believe what he was saying.
"So anyway, A field medic eh? I can't say I meet many of those in VWAT. Glad to have you aboard. Especially hearing that you'll be doing some precision shooting which again, I am of the belief that we are lacking in that area. So now, a bit harder of a question. Why did you join VWAT?"
Volke was unaware of how strange this may have been for her. Not knowing that most people didn't find out about the supernatural and not care that much like he himself. As such he continued on with the normal conversation as if it were just that. A normal conversation, and he had only revealed a slightly startling fact to her which she should recover from momentarily. Not that he had possible sent her into a mess of confusion. |

| Claire reached to stop Volke as he gripped the hilt of the knife and pulled it out. It was then she noticed he wasn't bleeding. She opened her mouth to question this extraordinary phenomenon only to be interrupted as he began to speak. She listened intently to his explanation. She frowned as she found him using quite a few references to try to make her understand. In the end he only seemed to confuse her more. The way he described it made an image of Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator pop up in her mind. As he finished talking she took a deep breath and closed her eyes wrapping her mind around the entire thing.
"Okay...so basically what I'm getting from this is...Your a fucking Terminator?" Claire asked. It was the closest thing that she could relate him to that made her have some resemblance of understanding. She jumped as he produced some sort of strange cannon. "W-What the fuck!?" Claire said. She'd never heard of this kind of technology she always thought that it would forever be the products of a sci-fi nerds wet dreams. But here was a living, breathing example of a cyborg. She backed up closing her eyes and taking a deep breath as he continued talking as if he hadn't just told her that cyborgs really existed. Just 8 weeks ago she'd been told vampires and zombies existed and now this guy shows up to tell her cyborgs could be added to the list of things that really exist as well.
It took her a moment to finally realize she was being spoken to until he asked about the nature of her recruitment. "Umm I don't like to talk about it..." Claire said scratching the back of her neck idly. The incident at Facility 17 was still fresh in her mind and it wasn't a memory she liked to look back on. She quickly changed the subject giving Volke a smile. "No wonder they pushed me through training so fast. No field medics dealing with what you guys deal with I'd think that a field medic would be one of the first things you'd have in each team." Claire said.

| Terminator eh? Yes. That was quite accurate, in more than one way. Vollke looked at her as he sheathed his knife which had just impaled itself in his chest. Then smirked a little bit at what she said.
"True, one would think that we would take some Medical personel with us on our mission. But honestly, no really cares if we die. Most of us here, are expendable. Especially the soldiers. Being mainly prisoners anyway. And if not, there normally men like myself. But there a few people I know of who will be very glad to have you. I think they should just be getting home from a mission actually."
Volke didn't say to her that he was expendable with remorse. Knowing that he very much was, but not really caring. So long as V.W.A.T. Through this old dog a bone every once in a while. He would be perfectly content to live to kill and eventually die. He really couldn't think of any other option for himself. What was there in his life but the thrill of the fight? Nothing that he could really think of. He had no family, no real friends, no real dreams. Forget the prisoners, if there was anyone here that was truly expendable it was him. Continuing barely pausing for this thought Volke said to her.
"As to my question about how you came to V.W.A.T. I understand. I won't press the matter further."
Not really being able to think of anything else to say. He let gave her a chance to speak. Wondering how she would react to all of this. |

| Claire frowned at the mention of the lack of concern for casualties in the field. It was one of the things she hated about the military in some ways. The brass just seemed to consider them statistics on a piece of paper. She gave Volke a smile and placed a hand on his arm "No one is expendable, Being expendable means no one is going to care about the loses." Claire said letting her hand fall back to her side. "As long as I'm out there I'm gonna make sure everyone makes it home okay by the end of the day." Claire said trying to brighten the dark atmosphere that had settled over them with Volke's statement.
She was a bit disturbed with the direction this entire conversation had taken. What had Volke seen to make him view everyone within VWAT as expendable. He even seemed to believe he was expendable. She pushed the thought aside for a moment and instead chose to follow Volke further into the base. Officially she wasn't on duty yet but the medical situation in VWAT seemed horrible. She wondered how many people had died already in service to VWAT.
Her mind was travelling between so many things. Eventually she just shut these thoughts out. Thinking about it wouldn't help anyone now she had to think about who she could help now in the presence. She stopped abrubtly "Um Volke I think I'll probably head to report in at the Infirmary see if there is anything I can do to help the team coming back in." Claire said rubbing the back of her neck in embarassment.
She hated to leave her new aquaintance so quickly and so suddenly but if there were any injured on the team coming back in she'd want to be doing her job instead of hunting around for her quarters. She held the key to her room out to him along with her duffel bag and suitcase "Do you mind taking this to my quarters for me?" Claire asked. She felt a bit ashamed asking this of him especially since she was basically ditching him to go work. |

| Volke looked at her curiously. Not really having seen anybody quite like her before. He listened to her tell him something about not being expendable. Indeed, she was strange to him. But he rather thought that she was a nice kind of strange. He nodded his head at her statement. Then continued with her towards her room until she told him that she should go to infirmary and check up on it. Volke nodded his head and taking her things without hesitation he said to her.
"Not at all Claire." Then as he took her things from her told her before leaving for her room. "V.W.A.T. is lucky to have you."
