Have you see the OVA or read the manga series of Hellsing?  If so how far have you gotten?  If not please direct your attention to YouTube, and watch OVA 1-4 at least.  Warning: If you have watched the anime we require you watch the OVA, or read the manga.  The anime is not canon.  This is not our opinion.  This is the law set down by the creator of Hellsing, Kouta Hirano.
Yup

Name: James St. Michael

Age: 96

Gender: Male

Physical appearance:
James St. Michael:
Compared to Iscariot’s greatest Alexander Anderson and some others in the organisation, James is seemingly short at their side at a mere 5’11”, but his shoulders are very broad; and he has been compared in his time to a pony due to being a wall of flat and strong muscle. He has a scar going from the corner of his lip down to his chin, from where a vampire almost slashed his face off while he was still human; though it has had enough time to become very unnoticeable. He looks to be in his mid-thirties, though he still has an undefinable youthfulness that makes him seem around twenty five.

His only other scar is over his heart, a dark mass of scar tissue with bulging veins away from the point that almost make a crucifix when it’s looked at as a whole. His skin seems to be a healthy colour, far from pale but at the same time it doesn’t look like it has caught too much sun compared to other Italians. On his right hand is a black tattoo in the shape of a cross. His hair is a dark brown colour, left untouched by him he doesn’t seem to pay attention to it and instead merely keeps in a style so that it stays out of his eyes.

His brown eyes seem oddly hollow yet have a warmth to them, as if something has been lost from them and has only been replaced with something that appears the same but isn’t quite real and not quite human; this happened when he became what he is which leads to them drawing attention from people that seem to spot this though for the most part they shrug it off and carry on with whatever they were doing if they notice it at all.

Clothing of choice: The first thing most notice about James’ clothes is the Cossack, the large dark blue garment is almost purple in colour and on it like most are thirty three buttons, thirty three buttons for the thirty three years Jesus walked upon the earth. The thick garment is quite sturdy, able to go through hell and back without being utterly destroyed throughout his various missions. It has a stiff collar and serves to make himself seem bigger; it also accentuates his shoulders, making them seem ever so slightly broader than he already was.
He always has his silver cross around his neck, the steel chain that keeps it around his neck having been folded to make sure it isn’t easily removed from him; the cross itself is unremarkable and is extremely plain as it holds no adornment on it whatsoever. However the silver is of good quality and it has been crafted well despite its plain look, it has great sentimental value to him due to it being a gift from his sister after he joined the church.

Underneath his large Cossack he has black Vestments, plain black trousers complete with a black shirt with a slight “V parting” at the bottom so as to reduce how much it restricts his movements., they always look a little creased despite his best efforts as he has little time to go through the process of ironing everything. His shoes are plain black, with strong rubber soles and a thick heel though he gets through many pairs through them getting wrecked in fights or just the soles getting worn away.

Weaponry of choice:
Spear:
A short spear that measures at around 4', the haft is of oak and the point is folded steel that has been blessed numerous times to give it an extra kick against the undead. The look of it was based slightly on the lance of Longinus and although it has no connection to it and this doesn't make it any more efficient in killing, it makes James feel more confident in the weapon.

Short Swords:
He has two short swords like the one above, and both have received the same treatment as his spear with a cycle of blessings as they're made and having the steel folded numerous times to make sure that it will put up with the battering it receives on missions. After a battle he always gives it back to the armorers along with his other equipment so as to make sure that it is still fit for purpose and so any replacements that need to be made or any reforging that has to be done get done with minimal fuss.

He also has a 10 inch knife at his belt, honed to perfection it was the first weapon he was ever given when he started in his line of work so as to make it almost physically weak (compared to his spear and swords) but the blessings on it are older (and greater due to having had more placed on it over the years) than anything else he has on his weapons.

Race: Special Human: Monster of the Divine

Abilities: Imbued with the power of a shard of the true cross, James is neither human nor is he purely of the supernatural. The True cross lends him great power, and is what turned him into a monster of the divine, but it has placed restrictions on him; stopping him from breaking any of the ten commandments though “Thou shalt not kill” doesn’t apply to enemies of god (i.e. Satanists)  and other unholy creatures. In order to recharge his own divine powers he must pray at some sort of an altar or on hallowed ground in order to refuel his body. He also must also pray in the morning and in the evening, as a way to keep himself pure as well as to keep the divine happy to fuel him. But due to his divine spark, he cannot set foot on desecrated ground, and at his lower stages his power is sapped by pagan symbols and other such things.
Plain silver, or normal, or blessed weaponry hurt him as normal, not causing him more damage like a vampire due to his partially divine nature. But daemonic weaponry, and things or people very, very strongly aligned with the Devil and other such weapons or people will cause him more pain than normal as well as drag out the regeneration process by making it take an extra post or two depending on the power of the what caused the injury to him (i.e. Alucard punching him would not only hurt far more than a punch from a Category F because of strength but because of how deeply aligned the first Vampire is with dark powers, and the healing from it would drag out for longer).

His form is also that of sand, held together through a shell of faith; and although he can still split up some of his form to use as a weapon then he needs to and can control and manipulate it (the amount he can control and use increases at each stage of his development) he can’t overextend himself lest he can’t pull himself back together again. The sand itself is strongly blessed, able to cut through and harm creatures of darkness with some ease; the sand moves at medium supernatural speeds unless there is strong wind making it harder to control and slowing it.
His regeneration cannot heal lost limbs; they can only be regrown in a church or holy ground where he is able to draw in enough energy to complete the process. As well as this his regeneration is nigh instantaneous, though the process uses up a limited amount of energy thus giving him a limited amount of regeneration a day; plus he keeps the limits of not regenerating limbs throughout his evolution. James is killable by conventional means up until he reaches "Force of Nature Status," although until he runs out of regeneration most things short of huge damage (like taking a shotgun to the stomach and losing most of it for example) only slows him down while he heals. But as well as this he is made slower and weaker when soaked with water, it makes his form cling together. Overall he slows down by a category as it makes him slower, and due to being heavier his strength goes down by a category as he has to pull all the extra weight around.

He is also accomplished with spears, able to use them with great efficiency and co-ordination, able to pick out vulnerable points with great speed; the Templar has also done a good deal of training with short swords though he is merely proficient. While his hand to hand combat skills are extremely, tuned from fighting as a mere human to keep up and deal damage to vampires when he was still mortal.
His masters also drilled him hard in ways of the mind as a boy, so he can speak Latin fairly fluently, as well as read and right better than most that grew up in his day can/could.

Standard: Starting out, James can control the equivalent of 3m3 of sand, with a limit around him of twenty foot; and he can regenerate roughly six times per day without recharging at all in a church, though this may be more or less depending on the wounds themselves. His physical abilities are merely that of a peak human and pagan or daemonic artefacts/relics make him weaker and clumsier.

1SP Ascended: James can now control around 5m3 of his sand, with a limit around him of thirty foot; he can regenerate roughly ten times per day without recharging at all in a church, though this can be more or less depending on the wounds themselves. His physical abilities are on par with that of a D class Vampire, and pagan and daemonic artefacts/relics merely make him feel ill and particularly strong ones still make him feel weak.

3SP Greater Monster: James can control around 7m3 of his sand, with a limit around him of fifty foot; he can regenerate roughly fourteen times times per day without recharging at all in a church, though this may be more or less depending on the wounds themselves. His physical abilities are on par with that of a D class vampire, and strong daemonic or pagan artefacts/relics make him feel ill.

5SP Spark of the Divine: James can control around 10m3 of his sand, with a limit around him of sixty foot; he can regenerate roughly sixteen times times per day without recharging at all in a church, though this may be more or less depending on the wounds themselves. His physical abilities are on par with that of a C class vampire, and strong daemonic or pagan artefacts/relics only make him feel ill if they pierce his body and cause him injury.

7SP Holy Monster: James can control around 12m3 of his sand, with a limit around him of seventy foot; he can regenerate roughly eighteen times times per day without recharging at all in a church, though this may be more or less depending on the wounds themselves. His physical abilities are on par with that of a low B class vampire, and strong daemonic or pagan artifacts/relics only make him feel ill if they pierce his body and cause him injury.

18SP Force of Nature: For 18 Slaughter Points, after James has peaked his strength he can go one level further. Making himself effectively immortal unless the nail is pulled out of his heart, he can regenerate roughly eighteen times times per day without recharging at all in a church, though this may be more or less depending on the wounds themselves. But once he has used up those he still regenerates (though at the rate of 3 posts for major damage though he still can't regenerate limbs outside of a church or holy ground). He gains this power through a quest of holy intent, to empower the shard inside of him beyond what it is capable of so as to make him as strong as he truly can be; and if he completes it successfully he truly becomes something beyond mortal.
[Clarification: the limit on regenerating limb only applies to regenerating them after they've been cut off completely; if his arm is still attached after taking heavy damage it will still heal]

Organization: Iscariot

Personality: Calm and collected, thoughtful, and dutiful are all words that most would use to describe the Templar, it is almost impossible to rouse his anger and although he can be stubborn and won’t budge on his position once roused he doesn’t allow himself to get heated over a discussion. At times however he can lose a semblance of his cool, though this only really happens when it comes to something he cares about a great deal so as to cause him to react in ways he wouldn’t normally and show a hint of anger by either raising his voice or striking his hand on the table.
For someone in his position he is also quite humble, seeing himself as a tool or a sword wielded by the hand of god and so any of his deeds aren’t his own to be proud of; praise is met with a simple smile and a bowed head with the words “I only carried out the Lord’s will.” He has a great love of gardening, and tends to spend most of his time between missions amongst his plants due to the calming nature it has as well as enjoying the quiet that he finds solace in. He also finds it easier to get in touch with God amongst the rows of plants he’s growing, making the vines and flowers all the more important to him because of this.

However he does have a shameful side, hating himself for giving into the nail he resents and loves his position; resents it for having lost his humanity but loving it for the closeness to the divine it has given him with the chance to do good for humanity by cleansing the world. James also has a love of combat, revelling in it on a level he tries to hide through a face of cold calm; he enjoys the chance to show his strength against the monsters of the world but this is another thing he doesn’t like himself for due to a light paranoia that he could lose it one day and turn to darkness; as well as having the nagging thought that he could actually be evil but the restrictions of the shard of the cross inside him is merely stopping him: Is a man good if he is incapable of doing evil, and can only do good?

Rank: Templar, of the Order of St. John

Biography: Born in Early 1909 the baby’s father and mother were devout Roman Catholic, with his father having some level of importance in the Templar organisation to the point where the family were given a splinter from the cross for their long service to the church as well as their loyalty. John’s father had spent ten years as a Templar as had all his ancestors, with some spending longer periods of time in the service of the church and distant Uncles fighting in God’s name for their whole lives. But once ten years were up his father had decided that it was time to start a family to carry on the line, and after taking a wife he had been blessed with a boy and a girl

So it was that when the boy got to the age of eight he was sent to the Vatican to start his training in the ways of combat and devotion to the lord. His first few weeks were a pain to him, getting into numerous scraps with the other boys over petty things that were broken up by the men training them quickly enough with cuffs to the ear and harsh words that most priests would have turned green to hear. But overall the boy grew to be happy, gathering together a small group of friends and taking to the ways of the warrior as quickly as he started to take to the bible. Although he could read and write well enough however, he struggled to try and learn Latin even though it was the main language they worked in at the time; though in the end he managed to get a firm grasp of it he was never fluent and only reached a good standard that his higher ups approved off in his late teens.

He eventually became a full Templar at the age of seventeen; taking on his father’s heraldry to wear with pride as well as the splinter to keep him safe and protect him from the monsters of the world. It didn’t take long for the new Templar to be sent with others after vampires, the problem seen as becoming worse in parts of Italy and so the Vatican’s lade was sent out time and time again to cut out the hearts of the vile demons that had started to fill the land. He was successful at first, slaying everything he came across in the name of God, there was not a vampire he came up against that he good not beat through faith and the strength of his back.

He climbed through the ranks over a number of years and at the age of forty he was given his greatest challenge; a category B Vampire that was currently taking refuge in an old monastery had to be destroyed lest it destroyed any of the artefacts hidden within the sacred vaults. Taking five other knights with him James took the task on with his usual enthusiasm, prepared to go toe to toe with the strongest being he had ever come across.
It wasn’t an easy fight however, the journey had been easy and once they had reached the monastery the group of Templars had been unprepared for what they were about to face; the ravenous vampire tore into them like a hurricane. Tearing them asunder with its bare hands, blessed weapons that had torn others apart and sent them to the ash with ease were barely scratching the thing. So it was that James lost his family sword and spear because despite their many blessings they were no match for the might of such a powerful creature.

Eventually James was the last one left, down onto one knee he couldn’t stand through the sheer pain that cut through his reserves with impunity; he only had his knife in one hand, the blade still sharp. But he then remembered the thing he had around his neck, the splinter was long and jagged but radiated power like nothing else he ever had. So with shaking fingers he removed it, so as the vampire fed on one of his comrades he gave a cry of anger and fear. Before he finally managed to stand, charging the beast with the knowledge he would die, the wood seemingly glowing in his eyes. But before it reached the distracted things chest his wrist was caught, and keeping a firm grip on the human so as not to touch the holy artefact it twisted his arm; driving it into James’ heart with a ululating scream of joy at it victory.

James fell into a deep sleep at that, his eyes closing as he felt a rush of energy fill his dying body. Blood came to his mouth as he was thrown aside like a ragdoll, but for some reason he wasn’t dying; but the strangest thing was the feeling of power and purpose that filled the Christian like the feeling of God’s presence at mass.
He stood, his wounds seemingly closing up though luckily they were all far from serious. He felt rejuvenated and with a burst of power that tore through him and seemed to fuel him as much as it seemed to tear him in tow he charged forwards and drove his dagger into the once again feeding creature time and time again; it barely noticed it was being hit due to the blood lust.

He headed back to the Vatican after that, his body feeling better and worse than it ever had done, better because of the strength that coursed through him, and worse because of the aftermath of the energy that had swept through him. Over the days that it took him to get back to the Vatican the splinter sank further into him, though it didn’t hurt at all; to the point that once he reached his destination there wasn’t a trace of the heirloom along his chest but there was a series of veins that stood prominently against his skin to form a cross.

He spent a lot of time praying and recovering, coming to terms with what had happened and talking to many priests to try and understand the change… and now after 56 years of minor hunts and praying to come fully to terms with his “immortality” James has started to walk abroad from Vatican City once more, prepared to take on more than the most minor of prey.

RP sample: Social: Walking through the streets of Rome, his weapons safely back at his room the Divine Monster whistled lightly to himself; the sun was setting and he wasn’t one to simply waste a God given glorious day by sitting inside or just constantly drilling himself. Training was important, he had to keep himself sharp to carry out the will of his lord but there was a point when he had to say enough before going and clearing his head on a walk around the city. It had been a quiet few days, no reports of vampires to deal with, though he wasn’t about to complain about that at all. He paused in front of a small ice cream shop, his eyes glancing further along the path to where his destination awaited him on his return to the Vatican for evening meal and then back to the ice cream… the ice cream won.
He bound across the cobbles in a few steps, his smile boyish as he opened the door to the parlour with apparent joy in every movement. It was good to reflect, but if you couldn’t enjoy yourself once in a while or get excited about something then what was the point? There was none.
“Greetings Sir, welcome to my shop”
The priest bowed his head at the voice, seeing it was an old man whom bowed his head in return upon seeing the priest; after a second John replied with a light hearted tone. His eyes gazing at the large fridge before him that was filled with more flavours than he knew what to do with “well my good man, could I please have a mint Ice Cream?” he asked, his lips turned at the corners into a little smile.
Battle:
James stopped in his tracks as the Vampires bullets tore into him, his groans broke the stillness of the night as he fell back; the two holes closing up as quickly as they had appeared. That was the second time this thing had injured him and if he wasn’t careful he’d be caught out without the chance to regenerate from all the attacks he would have to put up with as he closed in for the kill.
He started running again, his time summoning up a layer of sand to hold around him to obscure him from the Vampires view and to at the very least slow down the bullets that were flying at him. He grabbed hold of the ladder at the base of the flats that the thing was climbing with blinding speed, it looked down and fired once again though it missed this time; and when it tried to release another volley the gun merely clicked. “Your gun has no more bullets you demon, prepare to die,” his voice was almost melancholy as he made his own way up the ladder the gun streaked down towards him. But as soon as it got within range a long tentacle of sand from his shoulder battered it aside, the priest was sad that someone else had been turned into a vampire and was going to hell.

But it was the will of the Lord, he knew best after all and feral beasts deserved death.

He made his way up at an impressive pace, and his prey tried to jump through a window only to feel something on his ankle just as he made the jump;  James had caught up and the thing was now within the reach of a long tendril that was now anchored to his ankle with a  grip of Iron. And with each rung the priest got up the grip got tighter, and all the Category D could do was stare at the tendril while trying to think of what to do as the feeling of burning it gave him made thinking harder and harder. Then he fell, another long, wiry weapon of sand streaking towards the back of his bound leg to cut through it into his knee cap to make it give way. “Goodbye vile creature, Amen” he whispered to himself as he used all his strength to use the tendrils to rip the thing from its rung and to send it plummeting to the earth below.

It wasn't dead though, so racing down he touched back down to the dark stone with a hiss of annoyance. So he ran towards the downed thing, impaling it's throat before it got it's wits back.

So I like everything about the sheet but the abilities still. I talked with you a bit about it but I'll go more in depth on here. The weaknesses of the abilities are such that they require someone to specifically pick weapons for that purpose. For the regeneration, are limitations still the same as the category equivalents or is there something different there? The sand is easy enough and even something we haven't seen in here before so I give you kudos on that. The pure immortality thing I could only see working as at least an 18 SP gain and even still, this falls firmly in the realms of the Relics Quests we tried to get started before making it hard to imagine attaining easily. We're talking about something that while it has a weakness as well is something still set as high was the Nail of Helena and True Nosferatu status, both of which we have said is relatively unattainable. I still would need a little more weakness to some of these abilities before I would be willing to go for it but again, everything else is awesome. I like his temperament and the looks and RP Samples are very descriptive so kudos there. Staff. Please take a look at this as well. Maybe I'm being too harsh on this but I don't think I am.

So it's been a week and I haven't seen hide nor hair of Staff response on this sheet. With the exception of Tegs, Jay and Coda which I can understand are busy, the rest of you have not posted any sort of excuse or reason. You have 72 hours to post something and if not, I will be handling this sheet myself. Let's get to it guys.

*sighs* Thank you for being so patient crunchy. I'm still a little apprehensive on this character but you've statted it well enough and though I'm not particularly fond of the word imjmortal on the sheet, everything else is perfect. You now have one approval. *puts ink stamp on sheet*

I think as long as you stay within the limits you placed on this character it should do just fine on the forum. Who knows it might help kick things up.
