Weaponary upgrade:
Alliant Techsystems XM29
The XM29, or OICW, was a firearms research project initiated by the US Military to develop a new type of infantry rifle- a standard 5,56mm rifle coupled to a 20mm airburst grenade launcher. The project was dubbed OICW- Objective: Individual Combat Weapon and has been going on since the 1980s.
After much testing and experimenting, the final weapon failed to impress military officials- despite a 300% increase in combat effectiveness, the weapon was considered too bulky, heavy and complicated for war operations, and the project was discontinued in 2003. Hellsing was able to obtain some of the prototypes of these unique weapons through some unspecified sources.
The XM23 is a 5,56mm rifle based on the AR15- a gas piston operated, fully automatic weapon which can also fire single shots. Its magazines hold 30 rounds and its maximum range is 800 meters.
The grenade portion of the weapon sits on top of the rifle component and can fire the 20mm grenades over a range of 1000 meters, the grenade launcher is semiautomatic and feeds from a six round magazine, located in the butt of the weapon. Finally, the third portion of the weapon is a fire control computer which can determine the distance to a target, prime the airburst grenade for the specific distance and then calculate the necessary flightpath for the projectile. This allows the grenade to explode above the target. The user can also manually adjust the primer for the grenade, allowing it to bounce around corners or behind cover.
The rifle part uses standard, recylced silver hollowpoint bullets which were melted down from previously used bullets in order to save cost. The Geneva convention forbids miliitary use of hollowpoint bullets, but Hellsing ignores these "laws" on a daily basis anyway.
The grenade launcher can use two different types of ammo: standard airburst and high explosive grenades. The former are basically flying frag grenades and shoot a spray of silver BBs around an area of 50 meters, the later are your average HE grenade- they do not have timed primers and simply explode on contact after getting past the safty distance.
Christie either uses this weapon or the AK, or neither.
When carrying it, she can hold four magazines for both the Kinetic Component as well as the Airburst Component. The magazine depicted above was never used in any of the prototypes, and as such Christie doesn`t have one for it.
Armor update:
Christie gets some knee high, steel tipped and heeled boots with protectors in front. They don´t have shoelaces, instead, metal clips and straps hold them together.
Rather than her regular soft body armor, Christie has decided to do it like Ben and wear regular issue Dragonskin.
