| By creating a character on this forum and using our chat box, you automatically agree to abide by our rules and by any staff decision related to these rules. Please click on each section and read the rules thoroughly before you submit anything.
- Common Rules:
1. All characters must act off of the character they were based off of or the original sheet that was approved. This in no way prohibits growth as a character, but this should happen logically according to your character's personality. If your character can't clone themselves, they can't be in more than one place at a time. Similarly, a character shouldn't be able to perform more than four actions in one post. Your posts must always be written in third person and should include actions, thoughts and speech of your character which are easily recognizable.
2. There can be NO GODMODDING OR METAGAMING of any sort performed by any character, nor can a character be created with any sort of unbreakable weapon or inescapable ability. This can include, but is not limited to: Describing another character's actions, thoughts, feelings or emotions, or performing actions that are outside of your character's range of abilities. Also, any rigging of Slaughter Points will be treated as godmodding and punished in the same way. Any breaking of this rule will result in an immediate warning followed by a permanent forum ban if it continues.
3. Any character of any race can kill or be killed. If a character is killed, the owner must report this death in the Obituaries section. If a player would like to dispute a kill or an action, they may post their dispute in the Disputes Board in the staff room. All disputes must include their reasons for the dispute and a copy of the original post for review.
- Character Registration Rules:
1. ALL new members may start out with no higher than a Category F vampire or its racial equivalent. Members who have been active on the site for two months or more may apply for characters with no higher than a Category D ranking with the same rules for disapproval. Any and all submissions above these criteria must be reviewed and approved by staff before they will be accepted. Original characters may be approved with only 2 approvals from staff members or 1 approval from the organization leader. Unaffiliated characters still require two approvals as there is no organization leader to approve these requests. Canon Characters will now require 4 approvals before they will be accepted.
2. Any characters under 16, crossovers or characters with extreme personalities will be met with some scrutiny and may be disapproved because of it. Plagiarism is not allowed and any offense will be given a warning and then an immediate ban if it persists.
3. All users are allowed to play as many characters as they would like on a provisional basis. We do request however that you make a continued effort to inform staff and your fellow members when you wish to stop using one of your characters. To reward our loyal members, if you previously had a character on this forum who either died or was written out of the story, you are allowed a one time revive of that character. Simply post in the Registry section the name of the character to redeem this offer.

- Combative Characters:
Combative characters earn new abilities and statistics through Slaughter Points (SP) which they earn through killing other players character in combat threads. Kills that are achieved in the Practice and Limbo areas do not add to this total. Players may also attempt missions which will add Slaughter Points upon their completion and allow the player to fight against an army of NPC characters instead. For more information, review the Mission System Rules.
1. The number of kills/Official Missions must be recorded in your character's signature if you wish to benefit from the Slaughter Point system and each race ranks up differently from it. Each counter is reset to zero with each level up. Example: I kill one player to level up. After that I now need 3 players to enter the next level.
Vampire Slaughter Point System Category F into Category D: 1 player kill/D.M. Mission Category D into Category C: 3 player kills/D.M. Missions Category C into Category B: 5 player kills/D.M. Missions Category B into Category A: 7 player kills/D.M. Missions Total: 16 player kills/D.M. Missions
Familiars Upon reaching Category B, you can have one familiar for free. Category B additional Familiar: 5 player kills/D.M. Missions Category A additional Familiar: 4 player kills/D.M. Missions[/quote]
Lycan Slaughter Point System Cub into Juvenile: 1 player kill/D.M. Mission Juvenile into Youngling: 4 player kills/D.M. Missions Youngling into Lycanthrope: 6 player kills/D.M. Missions Lycanthrope into Mature Lycanthrope: 8 player kills/D.M. Missions Total: 19 player kills/D.M. Missions
Cyborg Slaughter Point System Beginner into Advanced: 2 player kills/D.M. Missions Advanced into Armored: 4 player kills/D.M. Missions Armored into Elite: 6 player kills/D.M. Missions Overhaul: A cyborg can be redesigned and refitted with new parts to gain additional weaponry, upgrades, and even a new appearance for 4 player kills or D.M. Missions.
Iscariot Reputation System: Regenerator Serum: Available at 5 player kills/D.M. Missions (to human members) Holy Church Relic: Available at 5 player kills/D.M. Missions (to human members) or 7 player kills/D.M. Missions (to Regerators/special humans/Cyborgs)
Human Escape Card System: Available only to human characters, upon amassing 3 legitimate player kills or D.M. Missions, the character shall receive a one time use escape card. This card can be used in order to save the character from what would normally be an inescapable situation that would lead to the character's death or severe injury. The card is a one time perk and must be earned once again by amassing another 3 player kills or D.M. Missions.
Artifact Quests: For 5 Slaughter Points, an Artifact Quest can be requested in the appropriate board. These missions are harder than the norm; there is, as always, no guarantee of coming back alive, but also no guarantee you will receive the artifact if you do not fulfill the mission requirements while on the quest. If this happens, your 5 Slaughter Points will not be refunded.
- Story Characters:
Story Character is a tag enabling characters to flee from combat and progress in strength through natural roleplaying ability. Players that select this option no longer progress through the Slaughter Point System but may still participate in combat with no actual gain. The amount of points required to advance are also significantly higher and require a moderate level of storytelling to be successful. Characters earn one story point (STP) for each thread (minimum of 5 posts) that they complete. Players should declare their selection at the point of character creation and may not change their selection without resubmitting their character sheet with new combat specifications. Changing from Slaughter Points to Story Points or vice versa will cause the player to lose all the points that they have currently accumulated and those points may not be recovered once lost. - STP Leveling wrote:
Non-Combative Character Levels: Rank I: Base Rank II: 3 STP Rank III: 6 STP Rank III-E: 9 STP, and one mission detailing the stealing of their equipment from a shipment. (Equivalent to an Artifact Quest in difficulty.)
- More on Ranks wrote:
Rank I (Category F or equivalent): Able to conduct basic recon, recourse routing, and encryption. (Yields a rank I encryption on the organizations information and data.)
Rank II (Category D or equivalent): Given access to more advanced equipment and cloaking, now able to perform advanced reconnaissance, take on more important shipments, and superior encryptive abilities. (Able to yield a Rank I-E encryption.)
Rank III: (Category C or equivalent) Now with far more experience, enhanced equipment, and techniques of their own, these competent insurgents are able to perform far above those of lower ranks, now able to yield rank II encryptions.)
Rank III-E: (Category B and higher) Having stolen their extremely advanced equipment, and tempered their skills over many, many missions, these are the few elite of their class, able to yield rank II-ML encryptions, as well as others presenting little challenge to these seasoned masters.
- Mission System:
If an enemy (a large group of NPCs, a "big bad", etc.) is required, the staff account Dungeon Master can be requested for use. [*]Missions exist under a tier system by difficulty, ranked by Easy - Normal - Hard.
- Easy ranked missions would be the equivalent of isolated threats that the organization in question needs removed, but the overall magnitude of the threat is very low. A single vampire or a pair of low ranked vampires, some heathen mercenaries disrupting operations, informants gone bad, wanting out, and offer up long-time secrets for amnesty. (Yields .5 Slaughter Point Per Completion)
- Normal ranked missions present a significant challenge in that there will be quite a few targets, all of which may be outright hostile and dangerous. (Yields 1 Slaughter Point Per Completion)
- Hard ranked missions would be the equivalent of a direct and immediate organized assault on organization's Base of Operations, with multiple armed opponents, and some possibly of a ... ahem ... mystical persuasion. Otherwise, significant threats that may endanger the organization, a large population center, or worse. (REQUIRES 5 PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED MISSIONS TO ATTEMPT! Yields 2 Slaughter Points Per Completion)
STP Missions*: Types:Resource Gathering - As it says, the gathering of resources for your organization, be it weapons, funds, or other supplies, including members. This can include stealing shipments of weapons or supplies destined for other organizations. (As part of a mission, the target shipment would be controlled by the DM. Available to all ranks. Difficulty: Easy/Medium/Hard) Yields 1/2/3 STP depending on difficulty.Reconnaissance - Involves the scouting of enemy territory either by physical, electronic, or other means. Such as: Wiggling into a database, wiretapping a phone bank or line, intercepting other communication forms, etc (Difficulty: Medium or Hard. Restricted to Rank II+) Yields 2 Espionage - Relaying false information to enemy groups, other countries, or other organizations. (Difficulty: Hard. Restricted to rank III+) Yields 3 STP.
