Little Black and Blue Riding Hoods - New York

Description: Over the last several months, the repeated attacks by a strange animal corresponding to the cycles of the full moon had slowly formed a rough circular pattern around the lower New York projects.  The pattern has given some experts pause due to its resemblance to the hunting patterns utilized by larger wolf packs.  This particular section of the projects is nearly deserted save for a few bums huddled together for warmth, the occasional criminal and for some odd reason, a well off family of three cutting through the corner of the projects after seeing a late night movie.

A transport truck was taking the operatives into battle. It was around 11:00 PM with a full moon above, so there target should be mobilized by now. Less prey in the area would draw him towards whatever noise, so it was no coincidence the vehicle was taking the worst roads. STRENGTH looked at the floor, not wanting to make eye contact with the person they'd assigned to her as partner. Not because she was criminal, of course; she just didn't like meeting new people. She was less unnerved than when she'd first arrived on base, since the doctor had finally arrived, but being shipped out into the field left her with a strong sense of repetition, just like back home.

Soo Young sat in the back of the transport truck deep in thought, Her mind was still drifting back towards the fight she'd had with the VWAT agent. She scowled as she couldn't even recall the name of her opponent. The fight had brought her weakness to attention her uncontrolled thoughts that made her slow to act. She clenched her fist bowing her head as she felt the whispers pull at the edges of her mind. She clenched her eyes shut and muttered beneath her breath "Shut up..." Soo Young hissed just low enough for it to reach her own ears she didn't need to hear the voices now.

She took a deep breath before turning her eyes to look up at the girl seated across from her. She didn't seem too old in her eyes but she'd seen girls in the Abu Sayyaf that seemed way younger than they really were. She couldn't help but wonder about the girl's origins as she took in all of the girl's unique features. She could see what looked to be fear present in the girls eyes. "What's wrong..." Soo Young asked the girl. She couldn't go into this mission with a partner who didn't have a head as clear as hers.

She was deep in thought, wondering why they simply didn't airdrop her into the area - partner be damned - like they usually would. The question broke her concentration, making her jump in her seat with a sharp inhale. Looking towards the woman, head still low to the ground, she shook herself side to side to indicate nothing was wrong. That wasn't very true, of course, but far be it from her to concern Seung with her personal problems. Hopefully, the truck would stop soon and they'd be allowed out. Then, she could let her mind go blank and do what she was designed to do, like always.

Soo Young's eyes remained on the girl for a moment she watched the girl's head crane low towards the floor. She knew that gesture well especially considering she'd used it quite extensively since her mental episodes had begun. She frowned briefly at the thought of her problem but shook away the thoughts that threatened to overtake her. Those brief moments during her mental debates always made her vulnerable and she hated it with every fiber of her being. She returned her attention to the girl seated across from her and sighed. As much as she tried to hide it, It wasn't hard to tell the girl was anything but fine she could almost feel the doubt radiating off the girl.

Leaning forward on her elbows and clasping her hands together she kept her eyes focused on the girl. "Your lying...Don't lie to me..." Soo Young said calmly keeping her eyes trained upon the girl. "What's your name?" Soo Young asked, Soo Young was never much for social interaction but this girl was her only support on this mission and she needed to ensure that both of them knew what needed to be done. Detachment was good but in the end there would need to be some sort of connection between the two if they were going to rely on one another.

She pulled herself inward, literally and physically, at being called a liar. She didn't like such harsh words. "STRENGTH," she choked out, having to address herself by that less than favored name. The vehicle began to slow, pulling to a stop after a few seconds. They'd seemed to have reached their destination. From the front, the driver tapped through the metal twice, telling them to step out. The truck would leave after they exited to give them more room to work.

While the military truck made it's way down the seemingly deserted streets of the slums, a dense fog began to settle round the surrounding area. This was the area where the creature had been sighted most often, the danger zone where the air grew cold and visibility became worse and worse as the fog thickened to leave only the faint image of the full moon overhead. Up ahead of the truck there was a blur of movement, a shadow shifting in the mist. Gone as quickly as it appeared, a mighty howl tore through the night somewhere in the maze of alleyways on the right of the truck. Echoing out into the night to fill the hearts of the brave with fear, there was no sign of the source, only deep grey mist in every direction. Right about the time that the driver in front would most likely be looking towards the sound to the right, the entire truck would be rocked from a massive impact strong enough to knock the vehicle over on its side. A frightening blast of grey fur and fangs tore through the front of the truck from the left side, ripping the entire driver side window and half the windshield away along with the drivers head. The sudden attack had been done with no warning behind it, the massive beast blasting back into the fog from wence it came as quickly as it appeared.

Soo Young quickly tensed as she felt something impact the side of the truck. She could hear the screech of metal being ripped asunder. Picking up her Mossberg 590 from the bench next to her. She pulled the slide back and dropped a shell into the breech and closed it flipping off the safety before turning on the flashlight she'd mounted to the end. She backed toward the cab of the truck and rapped her knuckles against the metal separating the back from the front. She heard nothing and grimaced before looking toward her companion. "The driver is dead...follow me stay close..." Soo Young said before opening the back flap of the truck and hopping out.

All around them was a dense fog making visibility horrible the only thing easily visible was the bright moon shining overhead. She scowled wondering what idiot had ordered them to hunt a werewolf on a full moon. She'd seen enough monster movies to know that wasn't the brightest idea in the world. Sweeping her light across the fog she could see the faint outlines of buildings and other objects. The streetlights above seemed to give the fog an ominous glow as she moved through toward a building moving slow to keep her steps quiet. However being silent was difficult when everything around was quieter than you were. She could hear the click of her boots hitting the pavement with each step she took. The silence was unnerving but not unwelcome. All hunt's were often performed in silence this beast would be no different.

Her Mossberg was held close with the muzzle aimed slightly toward the ground but high enough that she could raise it on a moment's notice. The gun was loaded with 1 shell of Dragon's Breath and the last 8 was Silver Buckshot. She could only hope her companion would do as she was told and remain close. She would rather not be left without any back up whatsoever. Especially against a creature she had no prior experience facing.

As the truck flipped, STRENGTH was knocked to the ground. She didn't bother to get up until her partner told her to follow. She walked slowly behind Soo Young, the mist nearly swallowing her whole. This werewolf seemed like a bother. Though she'd never had to fight one before, she was educated with the basics if one ever happened to need killing. Silver was supposed to be their weakness, and both of the girls had that covered. At least the moon gave everything a decent light to it, so they weren't totally blind, and the mist was kind of pretty. Maybe this thing wouldn't be so bad after all.

In the depths of the fog, a faint scratching could be heard moving back and forth at high speed, the tell tale sounds of claws scratching over asphalt.  Up ahead, at the end of the alley that the VWAT agent's van had been heading down, a poor unfortunate homeless man happened to investigate the noises.  He never made it far and with a single cry his life was extinguished and his body was flung through the air.  Flying out of the mist directly at the two young women, his entire torso had been ripped open causing blood and entrails to fly in every direction.  The beast, maddened and enraged at life itself, began circling back behind the girls after throwing the bad tasting corpse at them.  Using the neighboring streets, the great beast was traversing the environment at blinding speed, the pads of it's feet making the softest of taps as it made two sharp lefts to return to the alleyway where the van was overturned, now 50 yards behind the little girl in the black hood.  Pain, rage, hate, killing raced through its mind as it launched itself at the little girl at full speed, jaws agape to tear off her head from behind.

Soo Young could hear the creature scurrying about in the mist, It sounded like dog but much larger. She kept her shotgun raised following the sound until a single scream ripped through the silence of the night. Her shotgun was aimed upward as a body flew through the mist towards them. She refrained from firing but as the body landed at her feet with a wet sound she felt a splash of blood spray onto her cheek. She whipped the blood away with a grimace however the entire time she remained quiet listening closely to the night. She scowled as she heard nothing either the creature was far from them or it was craftier than she was led to believe.

It was then heard it the faintest sound, That small sound was all it took to cause Soo Young to whip about her shotgun aimed at her companion almost as if she were going to shoot her. Soo Young quickly rushed forward gripping the girl by the hood and pushing her back behind her to the best of her ability. It was then she saw it a giant rippling mass of muscle and grey fur with razor sharp teeth. Most people would be horrified but in the eyes of the Korean Militant the creature was just another foe nothing more. She raised the shotgun aiming straight for the open maw of the beast and pulled the trigger releasing a burst of molten burning silver and magnesium pellets and shards straight down the alley into the path of the creature fast approaching. She quickly pumped the weapon chambering a shell of silver buckshot and fired once more aiming a bit higher in order to cover the entire alley with the spread of the pellets.

Her body was tensed to move as she watched to see if Silver had the effect she'd seen in so many werewolf movies she'd watched before.

The hobo killing was what did it. Any semblance to the timid little girl before was gone now, STRENGTH taking on a completely serious demeanor. Her eyes became cold and emotionless, her posture straitening as she faced the direction in which the body came. She was surprised at being pulled, but allowed it to happen. The girl would die, though, if she thought just a regular gun would take this thing out. From behind, the Ogre Arms raised up, the fingers opening to create gun barrels. The Large bullets blasted out of her hands, aimed partly at the creature as well as to the sides (more toward the latter, thinking that the buckshot would force it to dodge already). It would be harder to dodge if the barrage was spread out. The magazines would empty in each arm, then be ejected to reload.

The beast continued its charge, having cut the distance between itself and the girls in half by the time that the first shot was fired.  Though the dark haired woman's reflexes were impressive, to the supernatural speed of the lycan it was as if she was moving in slow motion.  With a mighty leap, the wolf soared well over the two shotgun blasts and the suppressing fire from the cyborg's mechanical arms.  The tip of the beast's tail trailed smoke cinder as it descended upon the women, paws outstretched with razor sharp claws presented to rip them apart.  The wolf was fixated on bringing it's massive weight down on the two of them, pinning the cyborg girl beneath her shotgun wielding friend.  The lycan would try and put those viscous claws to great use, attempting to further hinder the movements of the dark haired woman as it lashed out at her neck with his massive fangs attempting to tear out her throat.

Soo Young saw the beast leap above both blasts from her shotgun and narrowed her eyes as it soared towards them. The creature was airborne meaning it had less maneuverability. "Move!!!" Soo Young yelled back to her companion as she Quickly did a quick Spetsnaz style roll backwards to avoid the beast as it came down from it's leap. Her weapon was quickly brought to bare once more as she moved to fire another blast of buckshot at the creature. However her attempt was hindered as it lashed out at her throat with it's claws. She kicked off the ground infront of her dashing backwards out of it's reach just as the claws swiped through the air where her throat had been moment's before.. At the moment she was in the creature's territory close combat. Something she wasn't built for against supernatural creatures. She pumped the shotgun once more before leveling it toward the creature firing another blast of silver buckshot towards the creature. Friendly fire was a factor but if this creature did not die friendly fire would be the least of their problems.

Her mind was traveling at 100 miles an second processing everything around her. The Alley was one direction back and forth meaning it was a bottle neck something that worked in her favor. She backed toward the truck they'd just exited her shotgun trained on the monster her finger tensed on the trigger waiting for it's next move. She hated this monster already it had no purpose existing in this world but to eat, sleep and fornicate. Her eyes narrowed as she longed to wipe it from the face of the earth.

(OOC) Rolling back wouldn't work out too well, since I'm right behind. Until you can edit, I'm going with the assumption that you moved to the right and proceeded with all your other actions.

This beast was quick. It was a bit more than she was used to, but fighting things several times faster than her was kind of her deal by now. Taking a few steps back as the werewolf was still airborne, her arms came together and split down the middle. Opening up, sharp spikes lowered from the metal, creating a bear trap device that would snap shut when the monster came into range. It was bound to be heavy, so an impact could potentially knock her over, even with all the support her body gave her. It wouldn't matter, though; catching it in the trap would essentially spell the end for the beast if it could be contained long enough for one of Soo Young's silver shots to hit it.

The dark haired woman had escaped death by a thin margin. Focusing its attention instead on the black hooded girl, the beast reached out with its other paw to account for her movement backwards and rip open her stomach which was more likely than not filled with fish and goo...fish and goo. Rather than tender flesh, the beasts paw was welcomed by cold, spiked metal. The massive bear trap device clamped down on it's foreleg, nearly severing it entirely. Howling in pain, the wolf tried to twist away from the terrible pain but the momentum of its last attack had indeed sent the cyborg girl onto her back but in doing so the beast had only pulled itself off balance. Pulled awkwardly forward, the wolf's right shoulder was presented to Seung as she let loose another blast of buckshot. Blood exploded from the mounting wounds to the wolf's limb as the silver proved highly effective. Blinded by pain and rage, the rabid monster's attention threw all notions of self preservation aside in favor of simply killing all that stood before it. Twisting hard, the wolf fully broke its leg above the trap and chomped down hard on the flesh that kept it bound to the cyborg to sever its own leg for freedom. The blue coated woman was dangerous, she should have been a priority target but the mad wolf lacked the rationality for such thought. There was prey in front of it, lying on the ground. It needed meat. Using its remaining legs, the werewolf advanced quickly on the downed STR to try and tear out her stomach with its gnarled fangs while she was still down and her bear trap still closed around its abandoned limb.

Soo Young watched the creature writhe in agony and pain lashing out at anything within distance of it's claw. She watched the creature rip away at it's trapped leg. She pumped her shotgun once more chambering a new shell. She watched as the creature finally tore away it's trapped limb and began advancing on her downed companion. Approaching at a brisk walk she leveled her Mossberg 590 to the creatures head watching as it continued to drag it's ruined body towards STR. With a final look of distaste she pulled the trigger blowing away the disgusting creature's skull with a blast of silver buckshot. Snuffing out the last feral moment's of life it possessed. She pumped the weapon and fired a few more shells of silver into the creature to ensure that the kill was confirmed. She had never fought the Supernatural before and she'd rather be safe than sorry when dealing with them.

After she had emptied the last shell of her shotgun into the creature she approached her fallen companion. "Are you injured?" Soo Young asked.

Watching this thing begin to bite through its own arm was more disturbing than seeing it fly at her like in the beginning of the fight. With her hands above her as the limb was severed, she couldn't very well do much in the way of bashing its skull in, as she'd normally do. That's what the tail was for, though. On the descent, the metal spine STRENGTH possessed extended from her back and came up to spear at the beast's gut. It wasn't meant for a kill or as much in the way of damage; just keep it from hurting her. Thankfully, the woman had gone through the trouble of killing it, so the attack was mostly unnecessary. Pushing off the ground, she shook her head at the question.

Her clamp opened, the bloody leg falling to the ground. It moved itself back into the shape of arms once more. As much as she didn't want to talk, especially now that the adrenaline and violent conditioning had worn off, what she had to ask seemed to be too important to keep to herself. "How do we get home?"

Soo Young watched her companion get to her feet as she fed a few fresh shells into her shotgun. She didn't have exact details on the mission so for all she knew there could be more of these creatures wandering around waiting for them to lower her guard. Her eyes looked around for a moment looking for anymore threats as her furry adversary turned into a human form. "I'm not exactly sure about that..." Soo Young said as she went about picking up her spent shell casings slipping them into a pouch on her vest. She grabbed the other two bodies in the alley and dragged them over to the body of the werewolf creating a small pile before pulling the pin on one of her M14 TH3 Grenades and tossing it on the pile. She grabbed her companions upper arm and led her away to a safe distance watching it go off engulfing the corpses in flame.

"We'll just have to figure that out together now won't we?" Soo Young said referring to her companions ride comment as she led STRENGTH away from the scene as sirens sounded in the distance. Their involvement hadn't been entirely quiet she'd just hope that VWAT would be able to cover up the incident.

She allowed herself to be led away from the grenades, noticing the sound of police cutting through the air. "Together." She wasn't used to hearing words like that. It was a strange feeling, having someone there to support her in the field. Not only that, there was a strong possibility this woman had saved her life earlier, and she was grateful for that. Even so, she still had no clue as to how they could make their way back to base, or the general direction in which to go. She tried to activate her radio device, but it didn't seem to be working; it must be too far out to get a good signal. Just to be safe, she pointed to Seung's collar, indicating she should try to use the communicator in it to reach someone.

Soo Young frowned briefly placing a hand on the collar as her companion pointed on it. "I'm not exactly very familiar with the collar...I'd prefer not to trifle with it..." Soo Young said. She was an explosive expert but she'd never built anything like this before. Until she knew how exactly the device worked she wouldn't meddle with it. The last thing she wanted to have happen was for the damn thing to go off taking her head with it. Slinging the shotgun over her shoulder she walked over to the flipped truck and looked around the cab scowling as her eyes fell upon the ruined radio. The outer casing was ripped to shreds by the werewolf's claws when it had killed the driver. Getting into the driver's seat she leaned over toward the radio observing the innards of the device and scowling. Most of the wiring was torn apart as well way beyond her ability to repair it.

Hopping out of the cab she looked toward her partner and walked toward her. "Come on...We'll find a phone...or something..." Soo Young muttered slightly annoyed at their current situation.

She couldn't really complain about the woman's reluctance to use the collar. Neither of them really knew how it worked, so messing with it could have any number of unwanted consequences. Even though she should be the one in charge, STRENGTH went along with whatever Seung said. Without any orders herself, she was lost and had no way of improving the current situation.

Soo Young looked down at herself and sighed she was covered in blood and was carrying a multitude of weapons she wasn't exactly the most innocent looking person in the world at the moment. Explaining to the police why she was armed to the teeth and covered in blood was an activity she wanted to avoid for the moment. Walking over to the truck they'd arrived in she began stripping off her field vest and tossed it into the back of the vehicle along with her shotgun and assault rifle leaving her in a black tube top and her cargo pants and boots.

Turning back to her companion she frowned her teammate wasn't the most subtle person to march about New York but at the moment their options were limited. They'd need to find a payphone or something to contact base. Walking toward Yuu "Come on let's find a way out of here..." Soo Young said.

She was slightly confused and embarrassed when the woman began taking things off herself. Where they supposed to get naked after a mission? America had some strange customs -at least, that's what she'd heard- but stripping in the middle of a battlefield was a bit beyond what she thought would happen. Relief seemed to come when Seung stopped, apparently just removing the bloodied items and weapons. Not like the Ogre Arms would really allow her to unzip herself, anyway, and the thought of a total stranger undressing her was maddeningly uncomfortable. She nodded and prepared to follow once the plan of action was decided on.

Soo Young walked out into the street it was empty except for a few thugs standing about on street corners or just loitering about. Apparently shootings were a common occurrence here as none of them even seemed the least bit concerned about what had occurred minutes before. She glanced back ensuring STRENGTH was still following before walking up to a lone phone booth. She picked up the phone putting it to her ear before sighing as she looked at the coin slot of the phone booth. "Of course...pay phone..." She dropped the phone unceremoniously before stepping out of the booth her fists clenched at her sides. How did command expect her and Yuu to return without some sort of communication. She was not willing to fiddle with her collar trying to find which button speed dialed Mission ops but she didn't want to be stuck in New York City either.

She glanced down the street as a group of street thugs seemed to take notice of herself and STRENGTH. One of them stretched his arms apart giving them a lecherous smile. "Hey ladies you two lost?" He said. Soo Young scowled she hated this man already the girl beside her couldn't be older than 15. "Get lost or die..." Soo Young hissed glaring at the man. The man let out a half snort half laugh before pulling out a knife. "Baby I think the only person who's gonna die is you if you don't shut that pretty mouth of yours." The man said taking another step closer. Soo Young sighed and reached down feeling the familiar feel of her Five SeveN in her hand and pulling it from the holster leveling it at the man she shifted her aim a few inches and pulled the trigger killing one of the men behind him. "Keep talking...You have 4 for more friends for me to kill that means you have 4 more words before I get to you." Soo Young said.

The man froze his knife slipping from his grasp as he heard the yells of shock and surprise from his friends. "W-Woah lady hold up I-I wasn't gonna do nothin!!" He said backing up. Soo Young advanced on the man her pistol held steady and her eyes narrowed "Your wallets...toss them on the ground and go...your friend's too." Soo Young hissed gesturing towards the dead man on the floor. The men quickly took off all their valuables and tossed them on the sidewalk before rushing off. Soo Young holstered her handgun and walked up picking up one of the wallets and pulled out a few quarters one of the men had tucked into the lining. Perhaps killing one of them was a bit of an overreaction but scum like that served no purpose in the world except to leach off the others like parasites.

Walking back to the phone she slipped the quarters into the slot and closed her eyes trying to remember the emergency contact line given to her during the briefing. She dialed the number and sat for a moment listening to the phone ring before someone answered.

"You've reached a number that is no longer in service goodby-"

"Convict-Serial Number 141-Alpha-343-Foxtrot-242." Soo Young said cutting off what seemed to be an automated message. "Convict Seung...Where is Operative STRENGTH." The woman on the end of the line said. "She's with me, Mission is complete we need a clean up team to clear our position of evidence 4+ KIAs." Soo Young said.

"The Lycan is neutralized?" The woman asked the surprise in her voice a bit obvious.

Soo Young nodded "It's as dead as I can make it...Get us out of here." Soo Young said. The woman was quiet for a moment "We'll make it happen ETA for Evac is 1 to 2 hours I suggest you get comfortable Evac will close in on your collar tracer signal." The woman said before hanging up. Soo Young hung the phone up as well before turning to STRENGTH "Let's go we have 2 hours until pick up we may as well do something productive..." Soo Young said.

She followed close behind as the duo trudged through the streets and away from the body fire. Despite being, technically speaking, the superior of the two, STRENGTH had no desire or ability to lead their group. All the condition from back home had left her obedient, so she followed the older woman without question.

The signs glared down at the women in various shades of fluorescent light. Though a large portion of this street was residential, a good number were businesses. Mostly shady bars and the like; nothing particularly savory about the area. The whole experience was new to Yuu, and was a bit frightening - quite funny, in that a glowing "BAR" sign gave her more of an emotional reaction than a homicidal werewolf. She'd never been allowed off the base in Japan, except to fight, but they would always retrieve her quickly following the end of the battle. Finding their own way home was a totally new experience.

A few of the people lining the sidewalk came together in a group, eventually to confront them. Producing a weapon nearly activated her programming, but the gunshot and the subsequent disarming put a stop to it. As the men ran off, she looked at the body on the ground, blood beginning to pool around it and fall into the gutter below. "Was he a target?" she asked Seung, looking up at her in a way eerily reminiscent to a small child.

Listening intently to the phone conversation, she picked up that they would be retrieved soon. The woman began to speak, but she wasn't paying much attention. Instead, she was focused on the payphone. The idea of paying money to contact others was an interesting one. Up until now, she hadn't even been allowed to use a phone; not that she had anyone to call, but the fact remained that it was interesting.

The very end of what Seung said began to register. Pointing to the phone with a hulking, gunmetal finger, Yuu asked, "May I call?" There was no one in mind for her to speak with, but anyone would do. Calling someone seemed fun, for whatever reason, and she was hoping to do it before they returned to base. Whoever was dialed would be good enough.

Soo Young couldn't help but feel unnerved at her partner's question. It was rare she dealt with children she was a soldier not a babysitter. This girl seemed way to innocent to fight yet she'd seen her do so. She could even tell that the moment the situation had escalated she was more than ready to open fire on the entire group. A single gunshot was way easier to explain in comparison to having 5 bodies riddled with bullets until they resembled swiss cheese. "Not a target...A nuisance." Soo Young said glancing towards Koutari.

She raised an eyebrow as she requested to call someone. The girl seemed so intrigued with the phone booth, had she really never used a phone before that it caught her attention that much? "I suppose..." Soo Young said reaching into her newly obtained wallet and pulling out a few quarters. She had no idea who the girl intended to call but it probably wouldn't matter. Calling a random person wouldn't hurt anyone. She took the girl by the forearm and led her to the phone booth. She stopped she didn't need to look twice to know the girl likely wouldn't be able to put the coins in the slot or even dial any numbers for that matter.

She took the phone off the hook and slid a few coins into the slot before handing the phone to the young girl. "Here place it between your neck and your ear." Soo Young said. She once again noticed that with her arms she wouldn't be able to manipulate the phone in such a way. She felt a tinge of red spread across her cheeks in embarrassment at her foolish blunder. She placed the phone between the girl's neck and cheek before dialing a number. She didn't really care who the call went to the girl wanted to speak to someone so she would.

She left the girl to take the call leaning against the outside of the phone booth as numerous police cars began to flood the street. Most of the officers ignored her and the young girl likely having been contacted by Mission Ops and having the situation "Explained" She watched as the police walked over to the dead man on the street. One of the officers looked toward her and then at the gun on her thigh. "Collateral damage..." Soo Young said. The officer seemed to accept the explanation and covered the body with a sheet.

She watched a few firemen put out her small funeral pyre the bodies were burned beyond recognition now. Even if they weren't she was sure that VWAT had some sort of contingency put in place to keep the entire situation a secret.

She was going to be able to call someone after all. Though the command to take the phone seemed impossible to her, the situation was quickly remedied when the woman did the work for her. Her face pressed against the receiver, the cold plastic no doubt littered with more germs and disease than imaginable. Her finger, too big for the buttons, pressed several numbers at a time. It took a few tries, but eventually a valid number was dialed.

After a few rings, gruff voice on the other end yelled, "Who is it? Hello?"

"Hello," she answered.

"You have the stuff?" the voice asked, getting more annoyed.

"What is stuff?" the girl asked, unsure of what they were talking about.

"Don't screw with me!" The man slammed the phone back onto the hook, missing initially, but recovering quickly. Despite the shortness of the call and the man, all Yuu could do was smile. She made a phone call for the first time and found someone to talk to. The doctor would want to hear about all of this.

The police had already arrived by the time she stepped away from the phone. It was left off the hook, a quiet dial tone in the air. "I made a call," she said with pride to no one in particular. Considering the public servants were too busy to listen (and didn't particularly care in the first place), it would appear only the other woman was in the position to hear it.
