It was still a few hours before midnight when a small convoy made its way through the nearly abandoned streets of Mexico City's industrial area. A flame flickered to life inside the lead vehicle, illuminating cab of the truck for a few seconds before it was snuffed out and replaced with the dull red of a burning cigarette. Little did they know that their route had been given away a few hours ago by a member of their own gang. The small convoy, consisting of four vehicles, knew better than to stop at red lights inside their own territory so they continued to roll through each and everyone they came across.

The lead vehicle was an older model pickup truck that had two men sitting in the bed with cowboy hats on and two men in the cab without any headgear on. The middle two vehicles were both older model SUVs that had two men in the front and three men in the backseat while the read vehicle was an older model sedan with only two people visible inside of it. This was the main convoy for one of the heads of the Beltrán-Leyva cartel as he made his rounds collecting the tithe.

The lead vehicle clicked the blinker on and turned right onto a long street that ran for eight blocks before it dead ended into a T intersection. On the right side of the road were warehouses illuminated by the occasional street light and on the left was sand and shrubbery that was shrouded in darkness except for the turning headlights of the vehicles.

The convoy came just as expected. Seems like that information he bought was good after all. The Russian laid prone on one of the rooftops, classic skull bandana his face, a combat helmet above the bandana and a type IV kevlar vest. The rooftops appeared to be at a odd angle, giving him the advantage of a well covered high ground at the T intersection. Before reaching the rooftop, the ex-spetsnaz placed a Claymore mine at the bottom of the stair case leading upward and one directly in front of the door far away enough for it to detonate with lethal capacity should the door open without it being disarmed first. Bayman's training made his eyes capable of seeing his targets through the darkness with less strain then it would take normal people off the street.

The soldier pulled the G36c assault rifle off his back, checking the under barrel grenade launcher. Since he wasn't sure which vehicle Hector Cortez, head of the Beltran-Leyva cartel was in, he'd avoid using it unless it was absolutely necessary. If all goes as planned, he wouldn't even need it but just in case, he kept it loaded with a explosive round. Another option was should Hector Cortez reveal himself, he could use it to quickly eliminate one of the groups of security the spaniard had. The assault rifle he had was loaded with armor piercing rounds and the old pickup truck was most likely to not have bullet proof glass on the windshield which meant he wouldn't have to waste much ammo to kill the occupants. In fact, it should only take one shot per target should the armored glass not be present. A suppressor on the barrel would make it harder to find him due to the cover of the muzzle flash and his black armor blending in with the sky.

The Russian lowed his night vision goggles to maximize his vision on his targets. A predator waiting to strike it's pray. Steadying his breath while focusing his eyes farther, he finally lined up the shot and pulled the trigger; his sights adjusting before repeating the action of his attempted headshots on the occupants of the pickup.

The convoy drove as expected down the two way street with desert on one side and warehouses on the other.  Little did they know that a Russian was about to open fire on them from the rooftop of one of the warehouses.  The first nearly quiet gunshot was drowned out by the engines of the small convoy.  The armor piercing round did nothing more than impact the road behind the truck.  The drivers were oblivious to the first shot and kept on driving down the road.

The next shot, that had been corrected, impacted the side window of the truck and hit the passenger in the lower jaw.  Soon the nearly quiet night was interrupted by screams of intense pain and the squeals of the tires as the vehicles sped up.  The next gunshot hit its mark perfectly just above the ear but the outcome wasn't as fully intended.  As the side of the driver's head came out the other side and blew out the glass the passenger, still in immense pain from a destroyed lower jaw, grabbed the wheel to control the runaway truck but only managed to cause the pickup to flip over and roll several times before it slid to a stop on its side.  The lead SUV slammed into the rear of the pickup and swung it out of the way and continued driving.  The second SUV pulled to a stop and men began to emerge from it with AK47s trained at the rooftops of the buildings.  They had seen the glass blow from the right as they drove under one of the few streetlights.  They were waiting for any sign of an enemy before they began unloading the high capacity magazines at their intended target.

One target severely wounded, the other killed in action. Well, assuming the one that was in the pick up when it flipped over was killed from being tossed around like a rag doll. Good. It appears that the Russian gained the attention of the cartel now. They only had a rough idea on where he was and that gave him the upper hand for the time being. The shoulder shifted into a kneeling possession, shooting out the light the group from the SUV were under before executing a headshot one of the men. The ex-spetsnaz aimed carefully, shooting the kneecap then wrist of one of the men so their reflex while falling would turn their gunfire upon their allies. The veins in the arm would give the man no control over his muscle movements once the bullet should tear through it's intended target. Once he executed such, Bayman went prone to avoid any oncoming fire that they may begin to retaliate with, carefully crawling across the roof to a different vantage point to offer him another angle on his pray.

The first 'chack' from the G36C and the near instant impact of the 5.56 round in the knee of one of the Cartel members, brought torrent of 7.62 armor piercing rounds at the Russian.  Luckily the second round missed the mans wrist and impacted the asphalt behind him.  The concrete and steel walls of the warehouse shook violently as three of the Cartel members fired on the vague location of the Russian.  While the two remaining members ran towards the warehouse they suspected him to be in.

Unbeknownst to the Russian, but the Cartel members noticed immediately, a small fire had started from the leaking oil and gasoline from the wrecked truck.  At the moment it was just a small fire beyond the line of site of the Russian but the Cartel members knew it would blow soon.  Once the two cartel members got to outside the warehouse, the two perfectly fine cartel members retreated to the small sand hill to the left of the road and out of sight of the russian while the wounded Cartel member finished unloading his 40 round magazine at the warehouse.

Bayman realized that two of the men tried to close the distance between the soldier and the convoy. The Russian carefully aimed towards the two men trying to close the gap, aiming in front of them to compensate for their movement. His training had taught him in the event of his target moving, fire in front of them so their movements would guide them into the path of his bullets. Three carefully placed shots were executed while the men tried to lessen the distance; the speed they were running at should grant a headshot on each target, or at least a shot through the jugular vein. The sights shifted upward, shooting the incapacitated cartel member in the leg again. The Russian was going to draw the rest out to help their ally, only to take them down from there.

As soon as the Russian rose up to fire on the two running Mexicans, for whatever reason he had, several of the AK rounds impacted his bullet resistant vest and one even passed high through his right shoulder with the bullet embedded itself in his back. Luckily for him the three or so rounds that impacted him drove him to the ground before more could finish the job. Soon the incoming fire stopped and the street became silent. The silence was interrupted by the sound of squealing tires as the first SUV and the sedan slowed to make the turn that would get them out of the killzone. If the Cartel leader got away, the mission would be a bust and there would be a in-house cleaning for the Beltrán-Leyva Cartel.

Then came the sound of an explosion as the Claymore was set off by the first of the men entering the warehouse. The second man, now probably deaf, was covered in debris and his friends blood. It would take him a few seconds to get his bearings enough to move in and finish off the would-be assassin.
